Alice Hausman, Tax and Spender,
Redistributor of Wealth

Another wonderful promotion of All Things Liberal advanced by the uber-Liberal Sunday Minneapolis Red Star North Korean Tribune in their Op/Ed section. Titled, "Fed Up by inaction at State Capitol", written by Lori Sturdevant, herself an admirer of the Marxian Model of Economics, readers are supposed to be swayed by Alice Hausman's plea for higher taxes so she and her fellow Democrats and RINOs can spend with unencumbered and unrestricted glee.

A freeway bridge fell, and the state still can't find a way to invest more in transportation, laments [Democrat St. Paul State Representative Alice Hausman].

Awwwwww, poor Alice - hold on a second while I reach for a tissue to absorb my tears - I feel badly that Alice "laments".

"We just moved through this time of crisis," Hausman said (referring to the collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis on August 1 - Drake), "and we didn't do a thing...People are fed up with us."

Oh, I need another tissue, I can't stop weeping from Alice's sad sob story. Okay, okay - enough with the sarcasm.

Property taxes are spiking - especially in her St. Paul district - and there's no boost in state aid for cities.

Well, this is what happens when cities can't live within their budget and fail to balance their city checkbook. Oh, if only all of us could live like that and ask the state to bail us out of our own overspending and mismanaged, failed financial policies.

Minnesota's Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty (of whom I am no fan), called a special legislative session for one day, on September 11, to address the I-35W bridge. Legislative leaders agreed, prior to the special session, that the issue they would address is the bridge. It was not a special session for All Things Tax and Spend, and Alice "laments" that it wasn't. Awwww - doesn't that just make you heart drop down to your pelvis? Another tissue, please.

Hausman heads the House Capitol Investment Finance Division - the bonding panel. That should give her a lot of say about broken bridges, stalled traffic, polluted water and the like.

    [...]

"We will not let gridlock between three leaders be the defining point of government in Minnesota. We all represent our constituents. We don't represent our leaders," [said Hausman].

Minnesota has spent billions of dollars on building one route for Light Rail Transit that runs from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to the Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis.

Minnesota plans to spend billions and billions of dollars on more Light Rail routes that they call "corridors." I need to Go Ask Alice if this money could be better spent on highways, freeways, bridges, polluted water and the like.

Go Ask Alice Hausman

Light Rail is the perpetual Money Pit, it will never, never ever be cost-effective. Light Rail was supposed to alleviate freeway and traffic congestion, but this hasn't happened. Highway traffic is still heavy and congested. The answer pitched by Alice Hausman and the Social Engineering Crowd is to build more Light Rail commuter lines. This is kind of like saying the answer to fixing a boat leak is by punching another hole in its hull.

I don't know about your constituents, Alice, but the taxpayers I know are stretched to their household limits on spending. They've tightened their belts as tightly as they can. They've cut back and reduced not only their discretionary spending but their necessary spending.

I find the Tax and Spend and Redistribute Money Mentality of folks like Alice Hausman and Democrats like her onerous, reprehensible and disgusting.

The statement at the beginning of this post, the one of "the state still can't find a way to invest more in transportation," - replace the word "invest" with "tax more", because this is what Democrats mean when they use the word "invest".

No Alice, we don't need to "invest" tax more for transportation. We need to spend the money that is already there in smarter and better ways. On ways that provide the most return to the majority of people - on things like highways, roads, freeways and bridges - instead of on ways that don't, like the Light Rail Money Pit.

Alice typifies the problem that Minnesota and other states, and the federal government all have in common. It's not a problem of not having enough money. They have too much money, far too much. So much, that they can't help but spend it quickly and foolishly. They spend the money on Special Interest projects (nee, Light Rail), and then have the audacity to ask the taxpayers for more? It's your outright greed and avarice - and attitude of entitlement to more taxpayer money - that you should "lament", Alice. Shame on you, shame on all of you.

It's time for the state to tighten its belt and instead of looking to the taxpayer for more money, it needs to look at where it spends money foolishly, eliminate that spending, and start spending it wisely. It's time for the state to downsize across the board instead of asking the taxpayer to "invest" more money.

After Conviction, Kill The Child Molesters

I'm against the death penalty in almost all cases. I used to be for the death penalty, but science, technology and especially DNA evidence has, in the past decade, proven many people not guilty who had been previously convicted and sentenced to death or life in prison.

I find myself once again rethinking the death penalty with regard to child sexual predators and child molesters. These offenders get convicted and serve their time on a first offense and are released only to offend again. This has to stop, it must stop.

The most recent case that bring this all into perspective is the horrific Chester Arthur Stiles story. AP:

Nevada authorities said Friday a registered sex offender may have been the one who raped a young girl in a horrific homemade videotape, and said they want to talk to him in hopes he can lead them to the child.

Chester Arthur Stiles, 37, was being called a "person of interest" in the search for a girl with haunting eyes who authorities believe was 4 or 5 years old when she was raped and sexually assaulted in the video, Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo said.

The girl is called "Madison" on the tape, and it is "possible" that the man seen assaulting her is Stiles, DeMeo said.

    [...]

He said investigators were led to Stiles by tips after photos drawn from the videotape of the girl and her attacker were distributed widely.

"This is breaking our hearts," DeMeo said. "She shows no emotion during the brutal assault — no crying, no emotion, nothing. You look in her eyes, her spirit is missing. That's the emotional part of this."

After a trial when a guilty verdict is reached, based on science, technology and DNA evidence all conclusive in convicting the accused person or persons, I want them executed. No appeals, nothing. March them up against a brick wall and put a bullet in their head - the end. They can no longer reoffend and forever ruin the life of another child.

The girl, Madison has been found. This is at least a small glimmer of good news.

Stiles is wanted on unrelated state and federal warrants on charges of sexual assault and lewdness with a minor under 14 years of age, the sheriff said.

I am tired of news stories about child predators who have committed yet another offense against a defenseless child. Many of these offenders admit they have no control over themselves and their urges. Substantiate their guilt with incontrovertible science, technology and DNA evidence. Find them guilty and then kill them. Kill them.

Hillary Health Care And $5,000 Baby "Gift"

Does Hillary Clinton MrsSatan really think that all it takes to buy our votes is $5,000? She is proposing that every baby born in America receive Five Grand. AP:

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.

Clinton, her party's front-runner in the 2008 race, made the suggestion during a forum hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.

"I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that downpayment on their first home," she said.

The New York senator did not offer any estimate of the total cost of such a program or how she would pay for it.

My question is, why so cheap? Why only $5,000? Why not $10,000? Why not $50,000? Why not $100,000?

And why does her payment only cover newly born babies? Why isn't it retroactive to apply to all of us? Why, to quote the most repeated Democrat refrain, "it's not faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaair" to exclude this payment from those of us whose parents are only guilty of nothing more than the bad timing of our birth. Why should we be excluded? "It's not faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaair! It doesn't level the playing field!"

Certainly MrsSatan's plan has some glitches in it. She needs to rethink it and include and apply this payment to all of us.

We can't be held accountable or responsible because we were born prior to her plan. She needs to include everyone in this plan and make the amount significantly more than a measly $5,000. I expect more from my Liberal politicians. Don't you?

On a related note, I find it rather strange, odd and hypocritical that so many critics of the Bush Administration claim their civil liberties and Constitutional Rights are being violated, but these same people have no problem with nationalized and socialized health care? They don't mind the government having access to their complete medical records? Oh, don't go giving me the "they will ensure privacy" rhetoric. We've seen more than one instance where defense department and FEMA laptops have been "lost" (ahem) or stolen. What makes anyone think the laptop with their medical records won't be "lost" or stolen?

You don't trust the Bush Administration with your privacy and civil rights, but you have no problem with socialized health care? From which planet are you?

Phony Soldier Phony Outrage

Rush Limbaugh hits a nerve and Democrats react, hyperventilating as usual:

Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards criticized Rush Limbaugh on Friday for referring to some members of the military as "phony soldiers."

Edwards and the campaign of fellow Democrat Chris Dodd took issue with the radio talk show host's characterization of Iraq war veterans who have spoken out against the war. Limbaugh was responding to a caller who argued that anti-war groups "never talk to real soldiers."

"They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media," the caller said.

    "The phony soldiers," Limbaugh responded.

    [...]

"All these Republicans went running to the mic and the TV cameras when MoveOn ran their ad about General Petraeus. Now let's see if they really mean it," [John] Edwards said. "Let's see if they'll speak out against Rush Limbaugh."

Heh - that's kind of funny coming from John "The Sissy" Edwards, considering his regular use of sending his cancer-stricken wife out to fight his battles for him because he's too afraid of any fallout that could hit him from the MoveOn and KooKs Goon squads.

This is nothing more than continued disingenuous rhetoric from the Liberal Haters over Rush Limbaugh's use of the words "phony soldier." His words, taken out of context by liars like Media Matters, is spoon-fed directly to pontificating Liberal politicians who have a solid history of insulting the Military. Politicians like John Kerry, Dick Durbin, John Murtha, Hillary Clinton, JimBob BobbyJim JimBo BobJim Webb, John Edwards and others.

I listen to a good deal of Liberal Talk Radio. Every time a caller who identifies him or herself as currently serving in the Military or former Military calls in to any Liberal Talk Show and says they support the War in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are met by the same remark by the Liberal host: "Well, I have no way of knowing if you're really in the Military," or , "I think you're just saying you're in the Military." You can hear denigrating response from Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann, Stephanie Miller, Ratty Rhodes, Al Franken (before he quite his unsuccessful show to run for U.S. Senate), Raymond Maddox and any other Lib Talker when fielding a call from someone in the Military. Funny how Media Matters never finds time to write about, let alone criticize, when these instances happen.

Limbaugh knows exactly what he's doing and the reaction he will get from what he says. He pulls the strings of these Liberals and they respond with their predictable knee-jerk reaction every, single, solitary time. You think they'd learn - after so many times - to not let their strings be pulled, but no, knee-jerk mentality coupled with their hate-mongering gets the best of them. Every single time. What a bunch of idiots.

Think fast, Who said it:

Opening show monologue on September 19, 2007:

"Let 'em die." ("'Em" being the Men and Women serving in the U.S. Military)

    "Let 'em bleed."

"Let 'em come home without limbs. So disfigured and gross you won't want to kiss your son, daughter, father or brother."

"Keep putting metallic ribbons on your vans and SUVs."

"Let 'em bleed. Let 'em bleed."

Can you guess which Liberal Talker said the above words? Can you guess which Liberal Talker, who claims to be so supportive of the Military, said the above? It's a no-brainer, it's an easy guess; come on, I know you know who it is.

Yep, those words were spoken by the Rapidly Decaying Corpse of Mike Malloy. He's such a cretinous Hater, isn't he?

Media Matters and Liberal politicians won't criticize Malloy though, it doesn't fit with their plan of Smear Merchanting and Hate Mongering. Oh, but they support the Troops, they just don't support the War. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah.....riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

When Is a Hate Crime Not A Hate Crime?

Well, when the person committing it is also the perpetrator.

From KXMC:

An Anoka resident who told police that someone burned the shape of a cross into his lawn is now accused of burning the image himself.

De'Andre June told police he woke up Wednesday morning to find the charred outline of a cross in his lawn.

But the 47-year-old Anoka man is charged with falsely reporting a crime.

June has a prior record. Police say that inmates in the Anoka County Jail saw the news story about the cross and recognized June.

The inmates told police that when June was in jail with them, he said he would do something like this to get sympathy from the community, from the church, and collect donations.

June is charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process stemming from an altercation when police arrested him. He was arrested on a warrant connected to a financial fraud case.

Big Chubby Baby

No doubt many have heard and read about the Russian Mom who gave birth to a 17 pound baby girl earlier this week.

The story linked to above notes the following item:

The Guinness Book of Records says the heaviest baby ever was born in the US in 1879. It weighed 23.12 pounds but died 11 hours after birth.

The Guinness Book of Records is grossly in error.

The heaviest baby ever born in the US was born on April 23, 1954:

Since being born, the mouth on the above baby has never closed. Amazing? Not so much...

They Are Just Like Everyone Else!

Why, they are just like everyone else, aren't they?

Oh, don't let being handcuffed to a fence and having your bare butt being paddled, or any of the other images make you think they're any different from the rest of us. Why, some of them may be the public school teachers of your kids. Maybe your child's pediatrician. The day-care staff. Your dentist. Your grocer. They're just like the rest of us - we are to refrain from making even the slightest degree of judgment.

Why, some of them may have been part of the March 25, 2006 rally that called a group of Christians a "fascist mega-pep rally."

"There is a real intolerancy [sic] to homosexuality in a lot of these organizations," said Peter Cobb, an organizer with Not In Our Name.

Gee Peter, there doesn't seem to be real intolerancy towards Christianity, does there? Nooooooo. I suppose it's politically incorrect of me to even ask or mention it.

They have values, too:

Seeking to turn the tables on the scare tactic of "San Francisco values" that conservatives used during last year's midterm elections, organizers of Sunday's 24th annual Folsom Street Fair have decided to dedicate the leather and fetish event to what they say represents those values – community, diversity, and sex-positive self-expression.

Why, they can mock Jesus and the Last Supper with the best of us:

Organizers of San Francisco's Folsom Street Fair -- sponsored by Miller Brewing Co. -- have portrayed Christ and his disciples as half-naked homosexual sadomasochists in the event's promotional advertisement, and the conservative group Concerned Women for America is complaining about the hypocrisy of it.

"The bread and wine representing Christ's broken body and lifegiving blood are replaced with sadomasochistic sex toys in this twisted version of Da Vinci's The Last Supper," CWA said on its Web site.

"'Gay' activists disingenuously call Christians 'haters' and 'homophobes' for honoring the Bible, but then lash out in this hateful manner toward the very people they accuse," said said Matt Barber, CWA's policy director for cultural issues.

"In their version of The Last Supper, Christ, Who gave His life for our sins, is despicably replaced by sin itself as the object of worship."

CWA is calling on California politicians -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sens. Feinstein and Boxer among them -- to "publicly condemn this unprovoked attack against Christ and His followers.

Full Size Click Here.

We're asked to be tolerant and respectful of what they do, but they are unable to return and extend the same, simple, most basic courtesy. Mocking religion is fun! It's so "pushing the envelope," "on-the edge" type of satire, isn't it? Why, replacing items considered holy and reverent by some, with...uh...leg and arm shackles, ball gags, various things to insert into various orifices, paddles and various sundry items, who can possibly fail to reach the conclusion that it's just fun, games and an all around good time to be had by all.

Whoa - that San Fran Leather Crowd is sure a hoot, eh? Brave too! I wonder if they'd portray Mohammed in a similar fashion? Hmmmmm, no, they probably like their head attached to their body, just like the rest of us. Oh, yeah - they're a funny, funny group. What a bunch of comedians.

It's Family Friendly too, with such exciting venues as:

"Daddies and Dykes," erotic photography by Midori, Julie Simone, and Lee Harrington. The gallery is located at 2199 Market Street and Sanchez. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a reception featuring "food, booze, and boot polishing served up by hot slave boys" until 10.

    [...]

"Perverts Put Out for the Folsom Street Fair!," an event described as a "spoken word smut salon,"

    [...]

"This Shit Will Fuck U Up: Venus' Playground After-Party" at 1277 Mission Street at 9th hosted by Ms. Cat and Dusty Kitten.

    [...]

"Beginner Bondage: Quick Tips for Your Toy Bag with Rope," "Japanese Rope Bondage with Madame Butterfly". (1)

Remember, be tolerant of them, for they are tolerant, too, willing to let others express themselves while reserving judgement.

I'm no prude, and I personally don't find any of the above offensive. However, the Last Supper recreation is in bad taste and no doubt offensive to many Christians and non-Christians. But see, the Christians are supposed to be tolerant of this and accept it without criticism or judgment.

Again, if these people are so brave, so "out there", such "envelope pushers"; then do a similar typed theme but instead of using Christianity as the target, substitute Islam and Mohammed. Go ahead, you Brave San Fran Boys and Girls - show me how brave you are, how "out there" you are. Call yourselves what you are and at least be honest, you're Religious Bigots and Haters who are intolerant of anyone with religious views and principles.

Nope, no "fascist-mega-pep rally" at Folsom Street Fair.

It's Almost That Time Of Year Again

This time of the year can mean only one thing. No, not Halloween, Deer Hunting Season, Thanksgiving, Christmas or other holidays, although these dates are quickly approaching.

No - I'm speaking of the 2007 LPOS Award!

LPOS©, is a term I came up with around fifteen years ago and use frequently.

LPOS is an acronym for Liberal Piece Of Sh*t.

Pronunciation: spoken as its acronym: "EL-Pea-Oh-Ess"; or the preferred pronunciation: "EL-Poss".

Not every Democrat is a LPOS, but all Liberals are a LPOS.

A LPOS is a Liberal who has made a choice to go far - far far far - out of their way to wear his or her Liberalism on their sleeve
and made at least one, if not many, outrageous Liberal statements that goes well beyond the call of Liberal duty. To a LPOS, Liberalism is a religion that they place before everything else; advancing Liberalism is their reason for existing, nothing comes before it.

The LPOS Award is awarded every December to a worthy LPOS who, in the preceding year, has made Liberalism their personal Cause célèbre.

Since this wonderful Award Ceremony is only 90-some days away, I thought I'd give everyone a sneak preview of who some of this year's contenders are and some of those under consideration for the 2007 LPOS Award.

Proof Of Evolution:
Democrats Descended From Apes

Irrefutable proof that Democrats and Liberals descended from Apes:

Apes Blamed For Crime Spree, Sky News:

The chacma baboons, which live wild in the Cape peninsula, have been raiding people's homes for food and causing thousands of pounds in damage.

    [...]

"They get into the kitchens, they know where the fridge is, they open it and take everything, and then they defecate everywhere."

Why, that's just what Democrats do; they raid the fridge, take everything and leave piles of shit all over for others to deal with.

Maybe the baboons aren't to blame. Perhaps they learned this behavior from observing the Dems and Libs.

Hillary "MrsSatan" Clinton
Changes The Rules At Halftime

Going back to January, 2006, Hillary Clinton MrsSatan said the following, New York Times Story, "Hillary Clinton Says White House Has Mishandled Iran", by John O'Neil:

"I believe that we lost critical time in dealing with Iran because the White House chose to downplay the threats and to outsource the negotiations," Ms. Clinton said, according to a transcript of the speech published by The Daily Princetonian. "I don't believe you face threats like Iran or North Korea by outsourcing it to others and standing on the sidelines."

Since 2002 Britain, France and Germany have led talks meant to assure that Tehran's nuclear program would not give it the capacity to build weapons. The three countries last week declared that Iran's decision to resume nuclear research had brought the talks to an end, and, with the United States in support, asked that the matter be sent to the United Nations Security Council for possible action.

She repeated the same talking points on her Sunday, September 23, 2007 blitz on the network news programs such as "Meet The DePressed", "Face The Nausea" and others.

She has such an interesting "take" on Iran. Let's see if I understand her rhetoric. Had Bush dealt with Iran without consulting France, Germany and other countries, she would have criticized his actions for acting "unilaterally".

Instead, Bush says "okay", letting France and Germany take the lead - just like the Dems advocate, letting other nations take the diplomatic route - and she says Bush "outsourced negotiations."

You can't win with her and other Dems who have this same mode of thinking when they change the rules of how the game is played during halftime. Besides, how can any Liberal be upset that France and Germany advocated for the Iran issue to be sent to the U.N. Security Council? Why, last I checked, according to Liberals, the U.N. is the answer to everything!

As for North Korea, I can sum up the Clinton Administration's policy in one word: appeasement.

Saturday Night Movie Recommendation

Tonight's suggested movie is the classic and fantastic "Psycho", directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins.

Shot in gorgeous, drop-dead (no pun intended) black and white, "Psycho" is one of a handful of perfectly made films, acted so well and edited with such perfection...it is, in my opinion, Hitchcock's "Citizen Kane".

It airs on the AMC channel at 8PM Eastern Time - check your local television listings.

Two interesting trivia items:

The opening music during the credits is all strings and string instruments. It sounds like an entire orchestra, using all big band instruments - but it's not - it's all strings and it's phenomenal.

The other item: See the guard closing the door of the jail cell near the end of the film? Look quickly, because it's - yep it is - Ted Knight, better known as WJM-TV anchorman Ted Baxter on the "Mary Tyler Moore" sitcom and, of course, Judge Smails from "Caddyshack."

iPod Screens Faulty And Dark

From Yahoo Technology:

Apple has admitted that a "small number" of the screens on its new iPod Touch have trouble displaying dark images. Now let's see if Cupertino takes the next step and replaces the glitchy Touches free of charge.

In his review of the Touch, Wall Street Journal tech guru Walt Mossberg notes that some "early" units of the Touch (although not his pair of review units, apparently) suffered from faulty screens; indeed, I could barely make out the dark scenes in "The Hunt for Red October" on my test Touch, and several other reviewers have pointed out the problem as well. Mossberg reports that Apple has admitted to the problems, adding that only a "small number of units" were affected and that the issue is "being remedied."

Here is a comment from an unhappy iPod user from the Baltimore Sun's story on iPod "darkness":

I recently bought two "week 37" iPod Touches and both exhibit this problem. When I went to the Apple Store where I bought them to get an exchange, I was told by the "genius" (said with sarcasm, since the guy was no more a genius than the guy flipping burgers at McDonalds) that the screen looked fine to him. I was told I could exchange it if I paid the 10% restocking fee. Apple Stores have definitely lost a customer. If Apple doesn't fix this problem, then Apple has lost a customer of their products forever.

And PC Advisor tells us that a Macworld tech reviewer also noticed the "darkness":

For example, dark scenes in the classic Roman Polanski film, Chinatown, were really dark – lacking detail that the iPhone nicely detailed. The display also had a yellower cast than the iPhone. Dark images in photo albums similarly lacked detail," said Macworld’s Christopher Breen.

And if that isn't enough to dissuade your from buying an iPod, consider this: I heard - and I don't know if it's true or not - but, I heard just looking at an iPod will cause you to contract the West Nile Virus.

Lead Lunchboxes

Why is it the business of government to distribute lunchboxes to children? Did the State of California pay for the lunchboxes? Why yes, the state did pay for them. What is the point of this? Why is the state taxpayer paying for damned lunchboxes?

Consumer Affairs reports the following:

It wasn't long ago that California public health officials distributed 350,000 Chinese-made canvas lunchboxes to promote healthy eating by school children.

Now the state is asking parents to discard the lunchboxes after tests found "significant" levels of lead in some of the canvas bags. The lead was found in only three of the bags tested but officials said they didn't want to take any chances.

State bureaucrats are also dealing with charges that they waited too long to notify parents of the hazard.

Press reports said that state health officials learned in July that the Sacramento County Public Health Department had found lead in the lunchboxes through a swab test.

"It certainly is unfortunate that an item we're using to promote healthy behavior is discovered to be in itself a health hazard," said Mark Horton, director of the Department of Public Health. "We will be reassessing our policy on the distribution of our promotional products."

Horton insisted he had acted properly. He said the department stopped ordering the lunchboxes in July and notified local agencies.

But Horton's department didn't notify parents until this week.

"It wasn't until we got more confirmation tests," Horton told the San Jose Mercury-News, "that we decided to take more aggressive action."

"The kind of material we were dealing with required sophisticated testing to determine if there was lead" and if it was a dangerous level, he said. "It took several weeks to conduct the testing."

The lunchboxes carry a logo saying "eat fruits and vegetables and be active." They were given out at health fairs and similar events.

The lunchboxes were imported from China by T-A Creations, a Los Angeles company. They were then sold to a second company, You Name It Promotions of Oakland, which sold them to the state.

It's hardly a sedcret [sic] that vinyl and canvas lunchboxes contain lead. New York City and the state of Connecticut have ordered recalls of similar items in recent years and Target and Wal-Mart have pulled some lunchboxes from their shelves.

    [...]

"It's their mission to prevent illness in children," said Manju Kulkarni, staff attorney for the National Health Law, which works with the California Health Consumer Alliance, "but, instead, they're potentially poisoning them by distributing these lunch bags," the Mercury-News reported.

I'm waiting for the first politician or pundit to utter the catch-all Liberal phrase that this lunchbox fiasco is, "an epidemic."

The astonishing device below will not only safely contain your child's lunch, it poses little health hazard to anyone. However, it is flammable, so keep your torch and crack pipe a safe distance away from it.

Halliburton Greeted By
U of Madison Protesters

Demonstrators protested Halliburton recruiters in Madison, Wisconsin on Thursday. AP:

About 200 demonstrators sang and heard speeches Thursday at a protest against Halliburton Co. recruiters at the University of Wisconsin [at Madison] before departing peacefully — unlike a bloody event 40 years ago to which some compared it.

The Campus Antiwar Network has accused Halliburton, whose former subsidiary had large contracts to aid the U.S. military in Iraq, of profiting from war and other unethical practices.

    [...]

The group rallied at noon on a hill at the heart of campus, then marched to the Engineering Centers Building, where the career fair was held. Activists tried to discourage students from meeting with the oil services company.

    [...]

The protesters sat in front of the Halliburton booth, virtually blocking access to the four recruiters. University officials worked to clear a path so those attending the fair could walk by and even meet with company representatives — if they could withstand heckling.

"How can you justify this?" David Hammond, a 37-year-old freelance writer who joined the protest, asked a Halliburton recruiter. "On a personal level, how do you live with yourself?" The recruiter did not respond.

Josh Kossel, 22, a senior studying mechanical engineering, passed the crowd to meet with Halliburton recruiters and said he would have no problem working for the company.

"I don't let this crap affect me," he said. "I think protesting in general is pretty stupid."

    [...]

Nearly 300 companies are taking part in the three-day fair, university officials said. Halliburton was there only Thursday, and further protests are not planned.

Houston-based Halliburton is looking for entry-level employees as part of its plan to add 13,000 workers this year. Halliburton recruiters on campus declined to comment and referred questions to the company's spokeswoman.

Spokeswoman Melissa Norcross has called its critics uninformed since Halliburton and its former subsidiary, KBR, separated earlier this year. KBR has won billions of dollars in contracts from the U.S. government to help the military in war zones.

I bet that's where all of Minnesota's pot crop went...to Madison; damn it.

Is Karl Rove Running MoveOn?

Could it be that Karl Rove left the White House and is now overseeing the operations of MoveOn? It almost seems that this is the case considering how MoveOn hurts Democrats and helps Republicans. Maybe MoveOn's objective is to secretly help Conservatives and Republicans? More likely, MoveOn is unable to think beyond the nose on their collective face, considering their actions can come back shooting themselves in the foot.

Consider this, AP:

The Senate voted Thursday to condemn an advertisement by the liberal anti-war group MoveOn.org that accused the top military commander in Iraq of betrayal.

The 72-25 vote condemned the full-page ad that appeared in The New York Times last week as Gen. David Petraeus, the top military commander in Iraq, testified on Capitol Hill. The ad was headlined: "General Petraeus or General Betray Us? Cooking the books for the White House."

The ad became a life raft for the Republican party as the war debate kicked into high gear. With several Republicans opposed to President Bush's war strategy, GOP members were able to put aside their differences and rally around their disapproval of the ad.

Sen. Gordon Smith, one of the few Republican senators who supports legislation ordering troop withdrawals, told reporters Thursday he thought Petraeus' testimony and the MoveOn.org ad were the two biggest factors in keeping Republicans from breaking ranks with the president: Petraeus' testimony because it was persuasive and the MoveOn add because it went too far by attacking a popular uniformed officer.

"It was stupid on their part and disgraceful," said Smith, R-Ore.

MoveOn could have had Senator Smith on their side on this vote, but they alienated him. Bravo, MoveOn, Bravo!

Twenty-five Democrats tacitly or explicitly voted their approval of MoveOn's "General BetryaUs" advertisement because they fear being attacked and condemned by MoveOn.

Instead of mobilizing Democrats, MoveOn is mobilizing and stabilizing Republicans while drawing attention to the unruly, disjointed, disorganized and fragmented Democrat Ship of Fools sailing a chaotic course whose destination is the Island of Defeat.

Hillary Clinton and Chris Dodd voted not to condemn the BetrayUs ad. It was a non-binding resolution, the kind of non-binding resolution that, in the past, were ones in which the Dems were so enamored. But not this time? How interesting. Clinton and Dodd voted the way they did - along with 23 other Democrats - because they are afraid of being attacked by MoveOn. This comes as no surprise since these Democrat White House hopefuls are afraid to appear on FOX News while talking out of the other side of their mouth claiming that "we need to talk to our enemies."

Another attempt by the Democrats failed Friday, 13 votes shy on their latest version of Cutting and Running:

"Well, we didn't make it today, but we are going to keep trying," [Michigan Democrat Carl] Levin said Friday during a news conference.

Well Carl, keep putting lipstick on that pig.

The more vicious the attacks, the more anger displayed by MoveOn, the more cohesive and unified the Republicans become. Don't think that the Betrayus advertisement is the zenith display of MoveOns' rage. We have a full 13 months ahead of us of more wrath and dander to come from MoveOn and similar organizations.

Keep up the good work, MoveOn; the work that polarizes your own party and your own politicians. Those of us who are Republicans, Independents, Independent-Conservatives, Libertarians and Moderate Democrats owe MoveOn a debt of gratitude. MoveOn is doing the work of which Karl Rove need not concern himself.

Market Crash Didn't Happen

So who's out the big money? Does anyone know?

James Dobson Is Waiting For Godot

I'm not a big fan of JamesDobson, the founder of Focus On The Family. I don't dislike him, nor do I wish him ill, but his organization is no more representative of all Republicans or Conservatives any more than György Schwartz's MoveOn is representative of all Democrats or Liberals.

The AP reports Dobson's remarks about Republican Presidential candidate Fred Thompson:

In a private e-mail obtained by The Associated Press, Dobson accuses the former Tennessee senator and actor of being weak on the campaign trail and wrong on issues dear to social conservatives.

"Isn't Thompson the candidate who is opposed to a Constitutional amendment to protect marriage, believes there should be 50 different definitions of marriage in the U.S., favors McCain-Feingold, won't talk at all about what he believes, and can't speak his way out of a paper bag on the campaign trail?" Dobson wrote.

"He has no passion, no zeal, and no apparent 'want to.' And yet he is apparently the Great Hope that burns in the breasts of many conservative Christians? Well, not for me, my brothers. Not for me!"

Dobson is entitled to Free Speech as much as anyone else. But the point he misses is that there is no perfect candidate, not for either major political party. If Dobson doesn't like, or want to support, Republicans or Conservatives because they don't fit the ideal model of what he thinks a Republican or Conservative candidate should be, well...who is he going to vote for then, a Democrat?

The real disservice done by Dobson is to his flock, those of whom fully agree with him, never bothering to question what he preaches. He's treating his members as if they are a cult instead of free-thinkers listening to his message. This is what Al Gore, Junior expects of his sycophants who believe humans are the causation of so-called global warming. "Take what I say as the truth and don't question me" -
this is how the Left treats its members.

One needs to determine a half-dozen or so issues that are most important to him or her and decide which candidate best meets and matches those qualifiers. I'm not for or against any candidate yet - it's too early. I have written in the past I would not vote for John McCain, and even though I respect him, I could not hold my nose and vote for him. In retrospect, it seems way too early to decide who one will or will not support. I suffered from 2008 presidential campaign fatigue six months ago and I don't expect this ailment to go away anytime soon.

Most people fall somewhere within the mainstream of the political center of the spectrum, leaning slightly right or slightly left of center. Fewer people fall within the Extreme Right or the Extreme Left whose voices scream the loudest because they are in the minority. MoveOn claims its membership is - I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - around 4 million people. That amount of members is a small percentage of the population. They may sway a small amount of voters one way or the other, but MoveOn was impotent and powerless in electing Ned Lamont over Joe Lieberman in Connecticut.

People like Dobson are free to vote or not to vote. They are free to voice their opinions. But if folks like Dobson think they are going to assert their authority over Republicans or Conservatives any more or any less than folks like MoveOn will assert their authority over Democrats or Liberals, they are sadly mistaken.

Anyone can sit around, waiting for the perfect and ideal candidate of their choice to surface, but it'll be a long, long wait. One has a better chance of Godot showing up.

Fraudulent Hsu

Norman Hsu, the seemingly endless cash machine and fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, Osama Hussein Obama and so many, many, many, many, many, many other Democrats has been charged with fraud. ABC News:

Democratic fund-raiser Norman Hsu was charged on Thursday with fraud and campaign finance violations in a case that has prompted presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton to return $850,000 in contributions.

U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia unsealed a criminal complaint in New York charging Hsu, 56, with perpetrating a $60 million "pyramid" fraud scheme between 2003 and 2006 and committing related federal campaign finance crimes in 2006.

    [...]

Hsu used a small portion of the $60 million to reimburse investors who made contributions on his behalf to presidential campaigns, including Clinton's, Garcia told reporters at a news conference.

    [...]

He was charged on one count of mail fraud and wire fraud and one count of violating the Federal Election Campaign Act, which limits individual campaign contributions. If convicted he could face 20 years in prison for each of the fraud charges, and five years on the campaign finance charge.

Of course, Hillary, Obama et al, knew nothing about his past or had any inclination of him being a fugitive. Noooooooooooooooo, of course not. And, if you'd like to trade that for what's behind Curtain Number Three, why, heck, go ahead!

Dems Lose Another Micromanagement Vote

Senate DemocRATS failed to garner enough votes to mandate requiring that U.S. Soldiers spend as much time away from the battlefield, as they do on the battlefield. AFP:

After wavering Republican Senators came under fierce political pressure, the bill garnered 56 votes in the 100-member chamber, but in a stinging defeat for Democrats, fell four votes short of the required 60-vote supermajority.

The measure, framed by Democratic Senator James Webb, and co-sponsored by Republican war critic Senator Chuck Hagel, would have mandated rest periods for troops equal to the length of time they spent on combat tours.

Its failure was the latest bitter disappointment for Democrats who grabbed control of Congress last year, but have repeatedly failed to change the course of US strategy in the unpopular war.

    [...]

But critics branded the bill a "back-door" attempt to enforce a drawdown of US troops from Iraq. Supporters did not dispute the fact it would limit troop levels, but said it was vital to ease the strain on the US military.

    [...]

Republicans celebrated the defeat of the bill, which they said would have amounted to a legislated surrender in Iraq, a week after Bush declared his troop surge strategy a success.

Senator and 2008 presidential candidate John McCain branded the bill "dangerous," adding it would have "the effect of changing policy on the war."

Republican Senator Jim Bunning issued an outspoken attack on the bill.

"I will not support this slow bleed strategy in Iraq, it ties the hands of our commanders," he said.

Republican Senator John Warner, an expert on the military, who has expressed disquiet about war strategy, had considered voting for the measure, but was swayed by top military brass in a meeting on Wednesday.

Another loss for the DemocRATS; good! Their attempt was nothing more than to Slow Bleed the Military in yet another example of political micromanagement.

Gore Whore

I told 'ya so back in June of 2005 that Al Gore is a whore.

Now comes news that the inventor of the internet, Albert Gore, Junior, the King of Calamity is raking in the cash while jet-setting around on his own private Gulfstream, is charging a fee of up to $25,000 to hear his tales of gloom and doom; From The Age:

AL GORE has a story he wants to tell the world. But it will cost you a thousand dollars to hear it.

In a passionate attack on the climate policies of Prime Minister John Howard and US President George Bush, the former US vice-president, addressing a very expensive lunch in Sydney yesterday, called Australia and the US "the Bonnie and Clyde" outlaws of the global environment for their failure to ratify the Kyoto Protocol.

    [...]

Mr Gore made his comments after reporters were asked to leave the lunch venue. Despite the cost, lunch in the 700-seat room at the Sydney Convention Centre was a sell-out, as is tomorrow's event in Melbourne. VIP packages, which included a spot close to Mr Gore and a meet-and-greet with him, cost $25,000.

The quote that is erroneously attributed to P.T. Barnum that was - as far as I can tell - actually said by Joseph Bessimer, is that "There's a sucker born every minute." Yeah - and they all are buying into Junior Gore's Global Panic.

The only "greening" going on here is in Junior Gore's wealth accumulation.

Ahmadinejad Not To Visit Ground Zero

The latest development on this story is that - at least for the time being - Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will not be visiting Ground Zero in New York. BBC:

The New York authorities have rejected a request from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to visit the site of the 11 September 2001 attacks.

The Iranian president will arrive in New York on Sunday to address the United Nations General Assembly.

A New York police spokesman said the World Trade Center site was closed to visitors because of construction work.

He said requests by Mr Ahmadinejad to visit Ground Zero would be opposed on security grounds.

New York Police Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said the Iranian leader had asked the permission of the police department, the US Secret Service and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to visit the site.

Ahmadinejad wanting to visit Ground Zero...it's a no-brainer that the correct and immediate response should have been a resounding, "NO." The White House didn't get it, Lifetime Democrat-turned-Republican-only-so-he-could-be-mayor-of-New York Michael Bloomberg didn't get it and neither, of course, did the Democrats. I'm surprised New York's Senior Chicken Cluck Schumer didn't roll out a red carpet at Ground Zero and offer to provide a personally guided tour for the Iranian Terrorist .

The two who did "get it" immediately were Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney, both of whom I have problems with as potentially being the Republican presidential candidate. However...they are beginning to appeal to me more and more because of situations just like this. A Giuliani-Romney or Romney-Giuliani Ticket is sounded better and better - in small amounts - every day.

It's Howdy Hugo Time!

Ladies and Gentlemen, how about a nice round of applause for Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez!

Because, it's Howdy Hugo Time!

Hugo Chavez has decided he wants his own special time zone. So all the clocks this coming Monday will be turned back a half-hour, and Venezuela will be in its very own time zone.

From Stuff.co.nz:

President Hugo Chavez wants Venezuelan clocks turned back half an hour and he wants it done in record time – next Monday.

"I don't care if they call me crazy, the new time will go ahead, let them call me whatever they want," Chavez said on his weekly TV show. "I'm not to blame. I received a recommendation and said I liked the idea."

The shift will allow children to wake up for school in daylight instead of before sunrise, Chavez said.

That may seem reasonable to many Venezuelans but ordering the change with little notice and scant public education has raised questions over how much thought was given to the plan.

It also highlights how the anti-US president's governing style can sometimes be eccentric, improvised and rushed in his self-styled revolution to turn one of the world's biggest oil exporters into a socialist state.

Chavez himself has not had time to get to grips with the practicalities of the clock shift.

In his live show, he called on his brother, the education minister, so that the two men could explain the measure. But they mistakenly told Venezuelans to move their clocks forward at midnight on Sunday, when the policy is to move them back.

Chavez dismissed criticism that moving the time only a half hour was quirky, questioning why the world had to follow a scheme of hourly divisions that he said was dictated by the imperial United States.

The change will put Venezuela on its own time zone, shared by no other country. Several countries have adopted times that put them half an hour ahead or behind neighbours, and Nepal's official time is just 15 minutes ahead of that of India.

Venezuelan businesses are now scrambling to call in technicians to re-program their computers for the time change.

Most countries advertise in the media any planned changes in clock times for months before the implementation date.

But Chavez's government has only aired slots promoting the idea in principle without educating people on how to do it.

"I'd like them to explain it to me so that I can understand what the new time is. I don't get it at all," said Esperanza Alcala, a 46-year-old office cleaning worker.

Since first announcing last month that Venezuela would shift from four hours behind Greenwich Mean Time to four and a half hours, Chavez, his brother and other senior officials have given varying dates for the change.

This week, Chavez plumped for Monday, but his science and technology minister then said co-ordination with international organisation might postpone the move until January.

Congress Plummets In Polls - 11% Approval

Why, it seemed like only yesterday the new majority of a Democrat Congress was the cat's pajamas. They touted their First 100 Hours in which they accomplished so much virtually nothing.

And it seemed like only yesterday their approval ratings in polls was at 18%. Actually, is was August 13-16 in results from the Gallup Organization.

A Zogby Poll, publishing approval ratings of Congress on September 19, showed Congress' Approval Rating at 11%. No, that's not a typo - Congress has an approval rating of 11%.

From Zogby:

A paltry 11 percent rated Congress positively, beating the previous low of 14 percent in July.

And, according to the same Zogby Poll:

Only 29 percent of Americans gave Bush a positive grade for his job performance.

Still, the President's approval ratings are more than double than those for Congress. At this rate, I expect the approval rating for Congress to be in negative numbers by the end of this year.

Murtha Madness Never Ends

Congressman John Murtha, the Democrat from Pennsylvania - the guy who jumped the gun and called U.S. Marines "murderers" in Haditha, before their trial had even begun - has now been deemed one of the most CORRUPT members of Congress by CREW, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

The Tribune Democrat reports:

U.S. Rep. John Murtha, the chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, has been named one of the most corrupt in Congress by a watchdog group dedicated to holding public officials accountable.

The nonprofit Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington named the Johnstown Democrat in its third annual report issued Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

    [...]

Murtha, 75, a congressman for 36 years, was chosen because of alleged ethics violations stemming “from abuse of his position on the subcommittee to benefit the lobbying firm of a former long-term staffer and for threatening to block earmarks of other members for political purposes,” the group said.

Murtha, through his spokesman Matthew Mazonkey, declined to comment.

Last year, Murtha was a listed as a “dishonorable member” to be watched, but he “moved up this year,” said Melanie Sloan, CREW executive director. The Associated Press recently said Murtha receive more earmarks - money designated for projects in his home district - than anyone else.

Pushing him up onto the list, Sloan said, was Murtha’s “threatening a House member for criticizing earmarks. That’s a clear violation of House ethics.”

In another Tribune Democrat story, War Veteran Max Cleland "has withdrawn from the board of directors of a beleaguered Johnstown-based charity founded by a former top aide of Rep. John Murtha."

Cleland, a triple amputee and Vietnam veteran, said he has stepped down from the board of the Pennsylvania Association for Individuals with Disabilities.

“I’m not associated with PAID,” Cleland said Tuesday. “I am not interested in pursuing that relationship at all.”

Murtha spokesman Matthew Mazonkey said Murtha would not comment on the situation.

The news comes barely a month after Cleland and Carmen V. Scialabba, PAID founder and a former Murtha aide, announced Cleland was joining the board.

Hoo-Boy, that Murtha spokesman Matthew Mazonkey sure is busy, what with all the not commenting on anything. He's sure earning his salary, isn't he?

The Murtha Pièce de résistance, is undoubtedly the below video, where Murtha refused to answer if he would apologize to the Marines he so eagerly jumped to conclude were "guilty of a bloodbath" in Haditha. (H/T: AGJ).

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad At Ground Zero:
An Insult To Everyone

Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to visit Ground Zero. What the hell is up with this?

The New York Daily News:

Iran's president - a Holocaust denier, accused terrorist and proud member of the Axis of Evil - requested to visit Ground Zero but was promptly rejected by the NYPD, authorities said today.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has said Israel should be "wiped off the map" and has called the Holocaust a "myth," made the request through the Iranian mission in New York about two weeks ago, authorities said.

Ahmadinejad asked to lay a wreath at the World Trade Center site during the opening of the United Nations General Assembly next week. The NYPD denied his request citing security concerns, authorities said.

Ahmadinejad had visited New York twice before, but had never before asked to visit the site of the 9/11 terror attacks.

The Iranian president is a hard-liner who has denied claims by several Americans that he was one of the extremists who took them hostage in 1979. He has stated recently that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job, carried out with help of intelligence agents.

Rudy Giuliani responds, NY1 News:

"Under no circumstances should the NYPD or any other American authority assist President Ahmadinejad in visiting Ground Zero," said former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. "This is a man who has made threats against America and Israel, is harboring Bin Laden's son and other al-Qaeda leaders, is shipping arms to Iraqi insurgents and is pursuing the development of nuclear weapons. Assisting Ahmadinejad in touring Ground Zero - hallowed ground for all Americans - is outrageous."

Mitt Romney responds, Boston.com:

"Ahmadinejad's shockingly audacious request should be met with a vehement no," Romney said in a statement. "It's inconceivable that any consideration would be given to the idea of entertaining the leader of a state sponsor of terror at Ground Zero. This would deeply offend the sensibilities of Americans from all corners of our nation."

I completely agree with Rudy and Mitt.

The response from the White House - frankly, I find it appalling:

"This is a matter for the City of New York resolve," a spokesman for the National Security Council at the White House, Gordon Johndroe, said. He added pointedly: "It seems odd that the president of a country that is a state sponsor of terror would visit ground zero."

Uh - Mister President - Mr. George W. Bush, yeah you - you can stop this. You can simply issue a statement that under no circumstances will Ahmadinejad be permitted to visit Ground Zero. And if he chooses to do so, he will do it on his own, without any NYPD protection or protection from any United States Government Agency. I know you don't care about your poll numbers Mr. President - and most of the time I admire that you don't - but by quashing Ahmadinejad's
visit to Ground Zero, I'm betting you'd get a boost in the polls. You can stop this Mr. President...you can stop this insult to all Americans.

Contact the White House and tell them NO to Ahmadinejad visiting Ground Zero:
