Sotomayor A Terror(ist)
Lawyers who have argued cases before Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor call her "nasty," "angry" and a "terror on the bench," according to the current Almanac of the Federal Judiciary -- a kind of Zagat's guide to federal judges. [In other words, she's a BITCH! - Drake]
Judge Sotomayor's demeanor on the bench will be one of the issues the Senate Judiciary Committee tackles when she appears for her confirmation hearing. A lack of a good temperament has been used as a line of attack against nominees in the past - most notably conservative Judge Robert H. Bork, whose nomination to the Supreme Court was defeated.
"She does not suffer fools gladly," said Kevin Russell, a partner for Howe & Russell P.C. who argued a case before Judge Sotomayor about respiratory ailments suffered by the men and women who cleaned up ground zero after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. "I guess it is predictable that some of those fools would then complain about it."
...Judge Sotomayor was the only member of the 2nd Circuit to receive a universally negative review of her temperament.
"She really lacks judicial temperament. She behaves in an out-of-control manner. She makes inappropriate outbursts," one lawyer told the almanac. Another said she "abuses lawyers."
Sotomayor doesn't appear to be a big fan of the First Amendment and Free Speech, either. NBC Connecticut:
In August 2007, Judge Sonia Sotomayor sat on a panel that ruled against an appeal in Doninger v. Niehoff.
Avery Doninger was disqualified from running for school government at Lewis S. Mills High School in Burlington after she posted something on her blog, referring to the superintendent and other officials as "douche bags" because they canceled a battle of the bands she had helped to organize.
The case went to court and in March 2008, Sotomayor was on a panel that heard Doninger’s mother’s appeal alleging her daughter’s free speech and other rights were violated. Her mother wanted to prevent the school from barring her daughter from running.
Sotomayor joined two other judges from the 2nd Circuit in ruling that the student’s off-campus blog remarks created a “foreseeable risk of substantial disruption” at the student’s high school and that the teenager was not entitled to a preliminary injunction reversing a disciplinary action against her, Education Week reports.
...the judges said they were “sympathetic" to her disappointment at being disqualified from running for Senior Class Secretary and acknowledged her belief that in this case, “the punishment did not fit the crime.”
The ruling in this case has come under heavy criticism from some civil libertarians. Some say this case presents a solid rationale for rejecting Judge Sonia Sotomayor of New York’s Second Circuit Court of Appeals to fill the seat of retiring Justice David Souter.
“The continual expansion of the authority of school officials over student speech teaches a foul lesson to these future citizens,” Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, told the New Britain Herald. “I would prefer some obnoxious speech [rather] than teaching students that they must please government officials if they want special benefits or opportunities.”
I was like "huh? in which context is racism ever legit?"
If a man is picked because of his skin color (and not his merits) regardless of the skin color, it's racism. No ifs and no buts.
Sonia Sotomayor was not picked due to her qualifications, but because she fits the affirmative action mentality stinking from the White House, and from the kenyan man currently living there for free.
Sandy Vagina...now there's a good name for a blog, huh?
And The Left tried to get Americans to believe that it was W. Bush and Darth Cheney who were shredding the Constitution when in reality, Barry is shredding it before our very eyes.
I agree. SotoBologna was nominated strictly for the politically correct crowd and the Affirmative Action crowd.
On the TAX CHEATING...you just KNOW that that is going to come out during the hearings. It has to. Owing back taxes is a requirement for any Pbama appointee.
Absolutely. Just look at how The Left treated Clarence Thomas. Ripped him to shreds.
Soto's nomination is purely political and Affirmative Action motivated.
Her record is nothing to shout about either, and frankly -if you’ve heard her speak- she’s not what you’d call a towering intellectual.
Eric Holder has some racial hangups and agenda too, calling us “cowards” regarding racial issues and letting-off Black Panthers who stood in front of a polling place with nightsticks.
And Obama himself has shown us a puzzling pro-Kenyan grudge against the British and has said some pretty odd things, even regarding his own grandmother… plus he's the one who nominated all these kooks in the first place.
Whatever happened to the idea of a colorblind society? Team Obama define their world in racial terms all the time- and unlike any white people I know. I wouldn't want to be judged by any of them after what I’ve heard come out of their own mouths- they sound like Jesse Jackson.
If Obama is going to go on with his "justice" agenda largely based upon race- the double standards need to stop… and NOW
Her record speaks for itself. She doesn't need to be filibustered or criticized for her gender or racism (although it certainly is fair to call her on those things since The Left conducts their behavior in the same manner). Her record sucks. And that's why she should not be on the SCOTUS.
