New York Post Cartoon Racist?
(ILCP) are batshit crazy over the above cartoon.
The New York Post is under fire of charges of racism over the above cartoon. al Reuters UK:
African Americans criticized a New York Post cartoon as racist Wednesday, saying it likened President Barack Obama to an ape -- a potent image in the history of racism toward blacks.
The cartoon, which the newspaper defended as a parody of Washington politics, depicts a police shooting of an ape, playing off the real shooting of a pet chimpanzeee [sic] in Connecticut this week. One of the police officers says, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill."
Because Obama promoted the $787 billion economic stimulus that he signed into law Tuesday, critics of the cartoon interpreted the dead chimp as a reference to Obama, who became the first black U.S. president on January 20.
"The cartoon in today's New York Post is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African Americans as being synonymous with monkeys," civil rights activist Al Sharpton said.
The NY Post defends itself and cartoonist Sean Delonas. APee:
Col Allan, editor-in-chief of the Post, defended the work.
"The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut," Allan said in a statement. "It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist."
The cartoon drew hundreds of comments on the Internet including at the liberal Huffington Post, where columnist Sam Stein wrote: "At its most benign, the cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it. Most provocatively, it compares the president to a rabid chimp."
"At its most benign, the cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it. - that's exactly it...the stimupork bill could easily have been written by monkeys.
Look, failing to connect current events to humor does not automatically mean something defaults to being classified as "racism." Well, not unless The Left thinks they can make an issue out of it.

Socialism never wore a more obvious hat.
The rasicst shit is just that, shit! They are desperately trying to parlay the cartoon into a rascist issue to distract everyone from the shitty job Obama is doing!
I saw a great parody back before the election on Obama and part of it went like this....
Obama and Racism: "Why disagreeing with Obama is racist. Why insinuating Obama is not qualified to do brain surgery on you is racist. Why things we don't normally think of as racist become racist when doing them gets in Obama's way. Why racism trumps sexism. Why, whenever Obama practices sexism, it is not sexism - and it's racist to think it is. Why and when the words "circular reasoning" are racist."
Are his 4 years up yet???
The stimupork bill was written by a bunch of psycho chimps and a swamp cow.
Ok Dave, why did you photoshop Obama's pic out of the cartoon and replace it with a monkey??
Oh, yes, you uncovered the plot between me, the NY Post and Sean Delonas. Curses!!!
It's about time something got the Libs and Cultists in an uproar so we can continue mocking them, right? Ha!
They're such phony pissants.
You find the cartoon offensive? That's the kind of speech the First Amendment is meant to protect, offensive speech. So I can accurately conclude you do not support Free Speech?
Just because you think it looks racist doesn't mean it is.
YOU SHOULD NOT TYPE EVERYTHING IN UPPER CASE DIPSHIT.
You thought the cartoon tasteless. So what? If tasteless was a crime, there'd be a shitload of Libs behind bars.
"Taking jabs at the president." Yeah, that's sad isn't it? WASN'T IT THE LEFT TELLING US FOR THE PAST EIGHT YEARS THAT IT IS PATRIOTIC TO QUESTION OUR LEADERS, ESPECIALLY THE PRESIDENT (when it was Bush).
Now, you don't want the same applied to your Cult Leader? That's too bad. You're at the wrong blog if you expect here.
