Senate Blocks Gitmo Transfers
The US Senate has overwhelmingly rejected plans to transfer detainees out of Guantanamo Bay, and refused funding to close down the prison camp.
Senators voted by 90-6 to block the transfer of 240 inmates, also stalling a request for $80m (£51m).
Correspondents say it is a rebuke to President Barack Obama's plans to close down the camp by January 2010.
Meanwhile, FBI Director Robert Mueller told Congress detainees could support terror in the US if allowed to go free.
"The concerns we have about individuals who may support terrorism being in the United States run from concerns about providing financing to terrorists, [and] radicalising others," Mr Mueller told a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee.
Separately, a federal judge said the US can continue to hold some prisoners at Guantanamo indefinitely without any charges.
Harry ReidTard utters, the "T"-Word
CommieCrat Senate Majority Leader (...heh...leader...) Harry ReidTard, one of the 90 votes against releasing the Gitmo combatants into the U.S. said, "We will never allow terrorists to be released into the United States." ABC News:
"Democrats under no circumstances will move forward without a comprehensive, responsible plan from the president. We will never allow terrorists to be released into the United States," declared Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., at a press conference Tuesday after meeting with other Democratic senators.
Obama had requested the $80 million from the $91 billion war funding bill as part of his promise to close the Guantanamo base by January 2010.
[...]
"The U.S. Senate, Democrats and Republicans don't want terrorists released in the United States," said Reid, although he maintains, as does Obama, that closing Guantanamo Bay is the right thing to do.
Reid became exasperated with reporters when pressed to connect the dots between closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay and not bringing detainees to U.S. shores.
"If terrorists are released in the United States, part of what we don't want is for them be put in prisons in the United States. We don't want them around the United States," Reid said.
Who were the six Senators voting to fund closing Gitmo and bring terrorists into the U.S. mainland?
They were...all Democrats. From Senate.gov:
Dick Durbin (D-IL), Tom Harkin (D-IA), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Carl Levin (D-MI), Jack Reed (D-RI) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
Byrd is too busy dying in a hospital and couldn't make the vote. Why is he hospitalized in the U.S. when Cuba has such a much better medical and health care system?
Fat Ted Tumor Head Kennedy is also too busy dying to make the vote. And again, why is he receiving medical and health care treatment in the worst possible place - the USA - instead of Cuba?
Where was Jay Rockefeller? Why couldn't he make the vote? Who knows. Counting his millions maybe.

I'm still waiting to hear from all you good little Pbama Cultists who are willing to provide a home and shelter to the innocent, lovable, peaceful detainees being held in Gitmo. Why no takers, Libs? In your minds, Republicans, Conservatives, Christians and Jews are the enemy, not those poor abused residents at Gimo. Why aren't the Pbama Cultists welcoming the detainees into their homes and neighborhoods?

I like the "Impeach! Indict! Incarcerate!" slogan! Can I use that sometime? Maybe to go along with a future photochop? I will of course give due credit to the creative and fertile mind that created the slogan.
