Obama Disses Ellison;
Obama Islamophobic?
The reason given by the Obama staff was that Ellison might cause controversy for Obama, implying that it is because Ellison is a Muslim.
From the Minneapolis Star Tribune:
As Sen. Barack Obama courted voters in Iowa in December, Rep. Keith Ellison, America's first Muslim congressman, stepped forward eagerly to help.
Ellison said he believed that Obama's message of unity resonated deeply with American Muslims. He volunteered to speak on Obama's behalf at a mosque in Cedar Rapids, one of the nation's oldest Muslim enclaves. But before the rally could take place, aides to Obama asked Ellison to cancel the trip because it might stir controversy. Another aide appeared at Ellison's Washington office to explain.
"I will never forget the quote," Ellison said, leaning forward in his chair as he recalled the aide's words. "He said, 'We have a very tightly wrapped message.'"
When Obama began his presidential campaign, Muslim Americans from California to Virginia responded with enthusiasm, seeing him as a long-awaited champion of civil liberties, religious tolerance and diplomacy in foreign affairs. But more than a year later, many say, he has not returned their embrace.
While the senator has visited churches and synagogues, he has yet to appear at a single mosque. Muslim and Arab-American organizations have tried repeatedly to arrange meetings with Obama, but officials with those groups say their invitations -- unlike those of their Jewish and Christian counterparts -- have been ignored. Last week, two Muslim women wearing head scarves were barred by campaign volunteers from appearing behind Obama at a rally in Detroit.
In interviews, Muslim political and civic leaders said they understood that their support for Obama could be a problem for him at a time when some Americans are deeply suspicious of Muslims. Yet those leaders nonetheless expressed disappointment and even anger at the distance that Obama has kept from them.
Muslims frustrated
"This is the 'hope campaign,' this is the 'change campaign,'" said Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat. Muslims are frustrated, he added, that "they have not been fully engaged in it."
Obama, The Meccachurian Candidate, doesn't want to be associated with Islam because he claims that he's not a Muslim, that he is a Christian.
If The Obamalith is not, and has never been part of the religion of Islam - as he claims - then why is he so overly sensitive, going to such great lengths, to disassociate himself from it and its followers?
Methinks Obama doth protest too much. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.
I think we have a clear cut case of psychological projection with Obama's great desire in distancing himself from Islam.
Believe it or not - and I have ripped on Keith al-Ellison many times - I actually feel a little sorry for him for the way he was treated by the Obama campaign. But now, Mr. al-Ellison understands "the drill." It's the same reason why we see Obama distancing himself from, and not appearing with, Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.

You got it right, Ellison thought he'd drink the Obama-Aid, he did, and then they screwed him - and he's one of theirs.
I think we have something good going on here, though, and that will be a downfall of Obama. I'll be writing about it later today. His balloon can only go so high before it deflates, and I'm thinking it will deflate. And HOW!
