Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) believes that on September 11 "we were basically at peace."
Asked to clarify his remarks, specifically asking about the attacks on the U.S.S. Cole during Barack Obama campaign conference call, Kerry said, "well, we hadn't declared war,"

Asked if al Qaeda was a threat at the time, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee said, "well yes, obviously they were a threat. But, fundamentally we were not at war at that point in time."

What a dolt! We haven’t declared war since the Second World War
“obviously they were a threat. But, fundamentally we were not at war at that point in time”
The follow up question to that patently retarded answer should have been, “Why not? Wasn’t the attack on the Cole an outright act of war?”
The answer to that is simple: we weren’t at war because a democrat was in office. As RDS at Ten O’Clock Scholar has said, and I love to quote:
“democrats. Treasonous surrender-monkeys for 144 years.”
…and counting.
