Chinese Missile Shoots Down Satellite

From BBC News:

Japan has expressed concern, as have the US and Australia.

It is thought that the Chinese used a ground-based medium-range ballistic missile to destroy a weather satellite that had been launched in 1999.
    ...
[a] Chinese Feng Yun 1C polar orbit weather satellite was destroyed by an anti-satellite system launched from or near China's Xichang Space Centre on 11 January.

The test is thought to have occurred at more than 537 miles (865km) above the Earth.

Huh...I wonder...I wonder.... from WHERE and WHOM did China obtain such advanced missile technology?

It's a puzzler, ain't it?

Loral "Honcho" Bernie Schwartz And His Favorite Hand Puppet Bubba

In 1994 Bernard Schwartz, CEO of Loral Aerospace, went to China with Commerce Secretary Ron Brown. Bernard Schwartz, by co-incidence, also donated just over a million dollars to the DNC. When Mr. Schwartz flew to China he hoped to make a sale or two, perhaps to offset the large DNC donation checks he had just written. His company, Loral, makes some pretty high tech equipment, so the China - low-tech - market had great appeal. For example, Loral manufactures satellites, radars, global navigation and world wide secure communications systems. All the fine things a "wannabe" super-power would desire.
