Thank you David Drake for the Salute. It will help to bring awareness around the taboo issue of rape.

Happy to do it Holly. Your brave manner is an example to all, going public, and the Readers Digest story.

Stay in touch, keep writing, and Best Always.

David - I am a big supporter of Holly's and have recently been sharing in her advocacy. I am a male survivor of childhood sexual abuse, seeking to drive more dialogue by male survivors and survivors overall. My blog is focused on these issues and helping to bring an end to the vicious cycle of abuse. I hope you'll check it out at http://cyclebreakers.blogspot.com.

Here's my story: I was a victim of repeated child sexual abuse by caregivers, relatives and even a parent. I showed all the signs of a victim, but no one intervened. By college I became destructive and abusive; an example of how child abuse can lead one to abuse themself and others. I was a case study in the stats - 59% more likely to be arrested, 30% more likely to commit adult violent crime, 33% more likely to become a child abuser and 66% more likely to abuse drugs. Once a policeman told me that I could get help for my rage, addictions and disorders. It was the first time anyone had ever cared to intervene or tell me there was help. I also begged for forgiveness from God. My life was profoundly changed forever. Through intensive treatment and strong faith I turned my life around. But I found a broken insurance system where the necessary services were not covered. It made me realize how much we just talk about these issues, instead of truly dealing with them. I became angry that so many others never get help or intervention. Today I am a healthy father, husband and Christian. I support many abuse prevention groups, speak to survivors and am proud to help any way I can to end this vicious cycle.

Keep this fight alive!

I too have the utmost respect for Holly.

Thanks for commenting and sharing your story, Cyclebreaker. You are to be commended for dealing with what you went through and moving forward with your life. Best always to you, in the help that you are able to bring to others from what you have experienced.
