The Coretta Scott King Memorial: A Paul Wellstone Funeral Redux
Coretta Scott King's memorial service yesterday took on the eerie atmosphere of a Wellstonian Event.
You check your politics at the door at a funeral or memorial service. This is basic common courtesy and common sense. But never let it be said that the Left possess much, if any, of either of these two values. Not only is veering off into political discourse rude at a funeral or a memorial services, it is disrespectful to the deceased. It is disrespectful to the family and friends. It is disrespectful to those who attend to truly and actually mourn the loss of the deceased.
Reverend Joe Lowrey, Ted Kennedy, Jim-mah Kah-ter, Bubba and his wife - they could not contain themselves to let the moment be about Mrs. King. No, they could not permit themselves in allowing the moment be about someone else. They had to turn a funeral/memorial service into a political moment, not only about themselves, but about their obsolete political philosophy.
Does this tell you anything about these people? Does this say anything about how desperate they are to regain their political footing? Does this not personify who these people really are?
Perhaps President Bush should have taken a moment out of his speech honoring Mrs. King to mention how ineffectual and incompetent Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin were in handling hurricane Katrina at the state and city level.
Perhaps President Bush should have taken a moment to mention the presidential failings of Jim-mah Kah-ter and his dreadful handling of the Iran hostage crisis.
Maybe President Bush should have mentioned how U.S. Attorney General Robert Kennedy authorized the Federal Bureau of Investigation to wiretap Mrs. King's husband.
Maybe President Bush should have noted how it was the democrats who fought tooth and nail against Civil Rights.
Maybe President Bush should have cautioned the mourners that, after the service, no one should accept an automobile ride offered to them by Ted Kennedy.
Maybe President Bush should have noted the impeachment of Bill Clinton, his appeasement of North Korea, his inability to combat terrorism, his eight years of lies, his being guilty of perjury, his huge tax increase.
The parasites, also known as democrats, turned Mrs. King's service into this year's Paul Wellstone political rally. Their political desperation shone through.
Another Wellstonian Memorial Service
Maybe President Bush should have mentioned how then-president Lyndon Baines Johnson did not attend the funeral of Martin Luther King, Jr., even though King campaigned for Johnson:
Maybe the President should have noted how, just recently in the news, African American churches and places of worship of are being burned to the ground.
What better proof does one need in showcasing the leadership abilities and the integrity of President Bush than to not lower himself to the depth of those who used the forum of a memorial service as a political rally?
By the way, maybe someone should check the pockets of Bill Clinton and see if he's carrying an overabundance of matches and lighter fluid?
