Wifi Allergies?
You Have GOT To Be Kidding!

From MacPaper:

Arthur Firstenberg wants the city of Santa Fe, N.M., to ban wireless Internet signals in public buildings on the grounds that he and his associates are allergic to the radio waves.

"I get chest pain. It doesn't go away right away. I suffer for a couple of days," he tells KOB-TV. [I declare shenanigans on Arthur and others making this claim!- Drake]

The station says Firstenberg and dozens of "other electro-sensitive people" are arguing that the city's proposal to establish WiFi hotspots in public places is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The city attorney is looking into the issue, according to KOB-TV. But the World Health Organization says there's little to suggest that electromagnetic fields are responsible for the "range of non-specific symptoms" that such sufferers have described. [In other words Arthur - and far be it from me to support any statement made by WHO - your symptoms are all in your head. - Drake]

"A number of studies have been conducted where [electromagnetic hypersensitivity] individuals were exposed to [electromagnetic fields] similar to those that they attributed to the cause of their symptoms. The aim was to elicit symptoms under controlled laboratory conditions," the organization says. "The majority of studies indicate that EHS individuals cannot detect EMF exposure any more accurately than non-EHS individuals. Well controlled and conducted double-blind studies have shown that symptoms were not correlated with EMF exposure."

This just popped up now...with WiFi? Never before? Not with waves from AM and FM radio, cell phones, cell phone towers...?

Oh, we are so doomed.

I suggest Firstenberg find a remote island away from civilization and live life as only a Neo-Luddite can.

Send him here to Akron! In December free wifi corridor will go live. No more roadrunner bills! And if it makes liberals suffer too then it is that much sweeter!

Free? Is that the city? Minneapolis is trying to do the same thing - turning Wifi into a "public utility" and they are running into problems left and right.

Liberal suffering is always sweet, isn't it?

I hear North Korea is a wifi free paradise and it comes with a "Dear Leader". WTF more is there to ask for?

Heh, Molson. You again add the perfect response to folks like Firstenberg. "N. Korean Wifi"...oh shit, that's hysterical.

You have the best sense of humor!

You really have to admire these maroons. The idea that WiFi is somehow hurting them opens the door to suing every radio station on the planet.

Spot on TC.

And it didn't even occur to me to add in the post that I wonder if Firstenberg has a microwave oven?!

Thanks for visiting and commenting, as always.
