Fluorescent Lighting: The Dirty Secret
Hillary Clinton MrsSatan
Fails To Report Family Charity
From The WaPo:
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton failed to list on annual Senate financial disclosure forms the family charity she operates with former president Bill Clinton, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday.
Sen. Clinton, a Democratic presidential contender, has been an officer in the family foundation since it was established in 2001, but none of her ethics reports since then have disclosed that fact as required by congressional ethics rules, the newspaper said.
The foundation has enabled the Clintons to write off more than $5 million from their taxable income since 2001, while dispensing $1.25 million in charitable contributions over that period, the newspaper reported.
[...]
"The details of the Clintons' charitable family foundation and Senator Clinton's role in it have always been publicly available but, in an oversight that leaders of both parties have made, it was inadvertently omitted from her Senate filing, which has been corrected," Clinton's spokesman Philippe Reines told the newspaper.
No...no...it's not "an oversight" or "after examining our records"...it's more like
Her defenders will need to drink extra quantities of Kool-Aid to fend off legitimate and justified criticism on this one.
Oh...gee...did the WaPo NOT mention she failed to do the above filing FIVE - yes, 5 - times. Huh, they didn't. Yeah, this little disclosure oversight happened FIVE times. That's all.

Al Gore: Global Warming Is A Moral Issue
Hmmmmmmmmmmm....I didn't know the Democrats are now championing moral issues. Especially after decades of their previous mantra that the government should stay completely out of moral issues. Dems told us for years that it was only the Republican ideology that wanted to legislate moral issues.
The Dems aren't Flip-Flopping now, are they?

Government Intervention In Everything:
A Liberal's Clarion Call
I read a post at a liberal blog that blamed President Bush for the salmonella outbreak in peanut butter. The writer's logic, you see, is that industrial agriculture company, Con Agra, had contributed large sums of money to the Bush campaigns, therefore Bush looked the other way and allowed Con Agra to ship tainted peanut butter onto grocery store shelves. Brilliant logic, so reasoned in a factual and accurate basis, isn't it? Any proof offered by the writer that his allegations are true? No - but that's what he believes.
Another liberal writer, at a different liberal blog, says she's aghast that there is no law on the books specifying the maximum amount of time an airplane is allowed to sit on the tarmac before it hits the runway. This post, of course, was after Jet Blue's admittedly poor handling and performance of keeping passengers on a plane that never got airbound because of snowfall and blizzard conditions.
Who pays the price when government steps in and regulates or over-regulates private business? The costs of any imposition by government into a private business will be passed onto the customer. When this happens the Liberal Crowd cries that the new cost of the goods or services has risen too high. Then the same Liberal Crowd looks again to the government to "do something" about the high cost. It's a vicious and never-ending circle executed by Liberals who never want to assume any personal responsibility. When Liberals are wronged, it's always the fault of someone or something else.
Are there some customer-business relationships that can be resolved between the customer and the business without the government stepping in to "fix" things? Of course, but not if you drink from the Liberal jug of Kool-Aid.
Medical, dental and health industries obviously need some degree of government involvement. So does anything related to transportation, food and agriculture, construction and communication companies, to name just a few.
OSHA, the FAA, the NTSB, the FCC, the FDA are all good examples - for the most part - of agencies that primarily do good stuff in keeping a majority of people safe. And despite the exaggerated catcalling from the Left over hurricane Katrina, FEMA - overall - has done exemplary work for people affected by disasters. None of these agencies are perfect, not by a long shot. No agency is or ever will be perfect. Humans err and as long as agencies have human involvement and participation, occasionally errors will happen. "That's Life", as Frank Sinatra sings so eloquently.
The Left seems to be calling for the creation of a new federal agency, one that I name "The Department of Never Having To Suffer An Inconvenience". Instead of attempting to work things out on their own with private businesses that will sometimes fail and disappoint the consumer, the Left would prefer that government do it for them. Is this absurd or should we pity the feeble and weak self-willed Lefties who want the government to wet-nurse them from cradle to grave?

Democrats Continue Living In The Past
Democrats in the US are planning a challenge to President George W Bush's handling of the war in Iraq.
Key senators are drafting legislation that would revoke the broad authority granted to the president in 2002 and replace it with a narrower mandate.
The text has not been finalised, but it is expected to restrict the role of US troops and start bringing them home.
It will face opposition from Republican senators, who have twice blocked a resolution criticising policy in Iraq.
Democratic aides have said the proposal could restrict US troops in Iraq to fighting al-Qaeda, training Iraqi forces and protecting Iraq's borders.
Majority Leader Harry Reid could present it to lawmakers next week when they return from break.
Officials say the precise wording is still being hammered out.
Some Democrats want to totally revoke the 2002 authorization which granted President Bush the power to use the armed forces to defend the nation against what the resolution described as "the continuing threat posed by Iraq." The reasoning now is that threat no longer exists.
Michigan Congressman Dave Camp, a Republican from Midland, says he supports the president's surge plan, saying reinforcements in Iraq are essential. To do otherwise, Camp said, would "handcuff" U.S. troops.

Harry Reid (and I think Tricky Dicky Durbin, behind him) Looking Oh-So-Sad After Last Weeks' Failed Non-Binding Resolution In The U.S. Senate. You feel badly for them, don't you?
On Monday, the 19th, I wrote:
Harry Reid, Real Estate Mogul and Big Time lobbyist for Big Dairy and Big Lubricants - who also manages to find time to be the Democrat Senator from Nevada and Majority Leader - said he would not bring the resolution up again.
Reid, by saying he won't bring it up again, of course means it's just a matter of time until he reintroduces it or introduces a similarly themed resolution.
1-House Non-Binding Resolution Passed
2-Senate Non-Binding Resolution Didn't Pass
3-A "Re-Vote" On The Original 2002 Vote To Authorize War
4-Dems will say, "We've done everything we can to bring this war to an end."
5-Dems Will Move To Defund The Military...
...But they - of course - will say they support the Troops. Dems...they're such Patriots!

Jose Padilla Suffering From Stress...Anxiety
Dr Hegarty said after a 22-hour examination of the suspect that Mr Padilla had suffered from intense stress and anxiety following three-and-a-half years in custody as an "enemy combatant".
Mr Padilla claims he was tortured while being held on a brig at Charleston, South Carolina, a charge that officials deny.
The psychiatrist said Mr Padilla suffered from a facial tic, problems with social contact, lack of concentration and a form of Stockholm Syndrome, by which people in captivity sympathise with their captors.

Wrath Of Khan...Phyllis Kahn
State Rep. Phyllis Kahn is pushing to extend Minnesota's 6.5 percent sales tax to cosmetic surgery and appearance-enhancing procedures including chemical skin peels, laser hair removal, cosmetic injections and spider vein treatments.
Anybody who has the money for plastic surgery can afford to pay the tax, said Kahn, a Minneapolis Democrat.
"There aren't a lot of homeless people and there aren't a lot of people who don't have enough money for food who are getting optional cosmetic surgery," she said.
New Jersey is the only state that taxes cosmetic surgery, collecting an estimated $11 million this year. But plastic surgery taxes have caught the attention of lawmakers in Texas, Illinois and Washington in recent years as a potential new source of revenue.
Kahn said her proposal would raise about $7 million a year.
Most of that money would come from the bank accounts of hardworking women, said Dr. Richard D'Amico, president-elect of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons near Chicago. He said 90 percent of plastic surgery patients are female, with annual incomes averaging about $60,000.
"It hurts working women who save up their money and work hard and try to do something for themselves once in a while," he said.
Well, it's safe to say Phyllis - so far - hasn't had any 'work done' on her face!

"No, Beauty, you can't get away. From hell's heart...I stab at thee. For hate's sake, I spit my last breath...at thee."

"I think about how many South Carolinians have served in our military and who are serving today under our flag and I believe that we should have one flag that we all pay honor to, as I know that most people in South Carolina do every single day," Clinton told The Associated Press in an interview.

Other Democratic hopefuls, including Sens. Joe Biden and Chris Dodd, have said the flag should come down.

Hydrogen Peroxide Bombs
Well, it seems that hydrogen peroxide bombs are, in fact, just what the terrorists admit to using. Egg on the faces of the Left? You bet!
Six men are on trial at Woolwich Crown Court, charged with planning co-ordinated suicide attacks on London's transport network on July 21, 2005. Ealing Times UK:
[...]
[Caretaker William] Sarpong alerted police to a large number of empty bottles of hydrogen peroxide left in bin bags for collection by Enfield Council refuse services. Hydrogen peroxide is said to have been a key ingredient in the manufacture of the bombs.
The jury also heard how police searches of the flat, after July 21, unearthed extremist Muslim material, along with CDs by artists such as Meatloaf and Michael Bolton.
One of the alleged July 21 bombers has admitted making all the home-made devices, described in court as being as powerful as TNT or gelignite. ITV News:
Muktar Said Ibrahim, 29, is one of six men accused of hatching an extremist Muslim plot to kill commuters in a series of murderous bombings on the London transport system.
They are alleged to have tried to set off four bombs - made of hydrogen peroxide and chapatti flour - which all failed.
But the easy-to-make yet deadly chemical cocktails were embraced in the late 1990s by Palestinian militants and suicide bombers bent on killing large groups of people.
Now, Yeager says, the "Mother of Satan" explosives are considered the most likely weapon that terrorists will use against the U.S., more so than a nuclear or radiological "dirty" bomb.
"Every serious terrorist group knows about them and knows how to make them," Yeager said. The forensic scientist heads the explosives unit at the FBI's laboratory in Quantico, Va., about 35 miles south of Washington.

U.S. Senate Iraq Non-Binding
Resolution Defeated
Minnesota's Republican Senator, Norm Coleman, again proving that his past Liberalism still runs hard within his veins, voted with the Democrats. So did Virginia's Republican Senator John Warner. John, what WERE you thinking? Minnesota's Democrat Senator, Amy Klobuchar, voted with her Politburo Brethren - no surprise here as she's a dyed in the wool Commiecrat.
It's not hard to parse the words of Liberals like Reid. Whatever they say or say they'll do, plan on them doing the opposite.
Senate Republican Mitch McConnell said, "There is no place for chicanery at a time of war." Exactly!
Excluding the time spent in the House and Senate Chambers, how many hours and how much time have the Dems wasted pontificating about their Non-Binding Resolution? For them, a Non-Binding Resolution is their first step in protracted incrementalism; that being, to eventually move to defund the Troops, those already deployed and those awaiting deployment.
The Left is offended by the term given to their strategy, "Slow Bleed". Why does it hurt so much, Dems; why does it offend you to such a great degree? Is it, perhaps, because that term perfectly and accurately describe what it is you are indeed doing?
Newt Gingrich, former Republican Majority Leader, described the Democrat's behavior as"systematic undermining [of] American foreign policy," on FOX Sunday News. Gingrich is Spot On.
Brighten Up, Dems, because "Slow-Bleed Strategy" is a Non-Binding term. Yours is the political party who used to tell us that words mean everything, be so very careful which words we use, use only politically correct words, when speaking to another selectively choose your word lest the listener be offended. Suddenly, the Left flip-flops, for obvious political reasons, now saying words don't mean anything because their proposed resolutions are "Non-Binding".
On behalf of all of us Independents, Republicans, Conservatives, small "L" Libertarians, who disagree with the Dems, we promise to use the term "Slow Bleed Strategy" only in the most strict "Non-Binding" way. Does that make you feel better?

John Murtha: Ignorant Of Significant Facts
But it's not, Libbies - it's from your Liberal, Myopic WaPo. An excerpt (bolded emphasis mine) :
[John] Murtha has a different idea. He would stop the surge by crudely hamstringing the ability of military commanders to deploy troops. In an interview carried Thursday by the Web site MoveCongress.org, Mr. Murtha said he would attach language to a war funding bill that would prohibit the redeployment of units that have been at home for less than a year, stop the extension of tours beyond 12 months, and prohibit units from shipping out if they do not train with all of their equipment. His aim, he made clear, is not to improve readiness but to "stop the surge." So why not straightforwardly strip the money out of the appropriations bill -- an action Congress is clearly empowered to take -- rather than try to micromanage the Army in a way that may be unconstitutional? Because, Mr. Murtha said, it will deflect accusations that he is trying to do what he is trying to do. "What we are saying will be very hard to find fault with," he said.
Mr. Murtha's cynicism is matched by an alarming ignorance about conditions in Iraq. He continues to insist that Iraq "would be more stable with us out of there," in spite of the consensus of U.S. intelligence agencies that early withdrawal would produce "massive civilian casualties." He says he wants to force the administration to "bulldoze" the Abu Ghraib prison, even though it was emptied of prisoners and turned over to the Iraqi government last year. He wants to "get our troops out of the Green Zone" because "they are living in Saddam Hussein's palace"; could he be unaware that the zone's primary occupants are the Iraqi government and the U.S. Embassy?
It would be nice to believe that Mr. Murtha does not represent the mainstream of the Democratic Party or the thinking of its leadership. Yet when asked about Mr. Murtha's remarks Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) offered her support. Does Ms. Pelosi really believe that the debate she orchestrated this week was not "the real vote"? If the answer is yes, she is maneuvering her party in a way that can only do it harm.
"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence." - John Adams

Liberal Blogger Let's Blatant Error Slide
So, on This Post of Mine, which is really nothing more than quoting other attributed news and information sources on Al Franken, along comes a Dumbass commenter.
Of course, my next move is to check out the site of the commenter. Right off the top of my head I see a huge inaccuracy. Below is a screen capture of the post, unretouched by me - I swear - except for MY underlining his INACCURATE statement in white:

CLICK HERE FOR FULL SIZE (it will open in a new window). Once there, clicking on the image will enlarge it more.
I also added the following comment to said post:

CLICK HERE FOR FULL SIZE (it will open in a new window). Once there, clicking on the image will enlarge it more.
Now, the Liberal Blogger - and I'll give you his link in a second - still has not corrected his post or added an update admitting his error.
His sentence -
"from Wellstone to Jesse Ventura, both of whom defeated Coleman at one point or another,"
He didn't even bother to Fact Check his own words.
He just thought he knew something when he didn't. Instead of spending what would have been less than one minute on what is an easy item to Fact Check - Mister Liberal Blogger chose to write what he thought and believed he knew to be true.
But he was wrong. Classically, Liberally Wrong.
Paul Wellstone never defeated Coleman "at one point or another". Paul Wellstone never beat Coleman in any political race or election.
Wellstone won his first Senate term, in 1990, by beating incumbent Republican Rudy Boschwitz.(1)
Wellstone won his second Senate term, in 1996, by beating Republican challenger (pause for dramatic effect) ... Rudy Boschwitz. (2)
Wellstone ran for his third Senate term, being challenging by Republican Norm Coleman, but Wellstone did not win that race. He died in a plane crash (October, 2002) - as did everyone on that flight - prior to the election. (3)
Democrat and Ex-Vice President Walter "Fritz" Mondale stepped into the race, taking Wellstone's place, and lost to Coleman in the November 2002 election.(4)
1, 2, 3, 4: Paul Wellstone, Answers.com
Jesse Ventura did win the gubernatorial three-way race in November 1998 - as an Independent - by beating challengers Norm Coleman - then St. Paul Mayor - and Democrat Hubert "Skip" Humphrey, III.
So, (AHEM) - Hershey McSquirts... or whatever you call yourself - where and when did Wellstone beat Coleman..."at one point or another"?
Here's the link (if he doesn't yank it at some point).
So - Joisey Boy - When are you going to CORRECT your MISTAKE?!

Al Gore Promotes Eco-Conservatism By Consuming Fossil Fuels, Wasting Energy
...eight concerts were announced by ex-US Vice President Al Gore, whose global warming film An Inconvenient Truth is up for two Oscars.
Johannesburg, London, Shanghai and Sydney are among the host cities.
Three other concerts will take place in the US, Brazil and Japan, with the cities still to be decided. There will also be a concert in Antarctica.
Mr Gore made the announcement at a press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday, joined by actress Cameron Diaz and rapper Pharrell Williams, who will perform at one of the shows.
"We have to get the message of urgency and hope out," Mr Gore said.
"The climate crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement."
...oh, and of course backstage bowls filled with M&M's minus the green ones...all spewing pollution - car, jet and semi-truck exhaust, CO2, residual garbage...
...all in an effort to call attention to......conservation, wasting fossil fuel and "using less".
Is there any hypocrisy here, on Junior Gore's part and the whole concert tour?
Let me know. I'm undecided on it.

Pretty, Petty, Ornamantal, Decorative Non-Binding Resolution Passes In House
Seventeen of his Republican Party joined the Democrats in passing the non-binding motion 246 to 182.
[...]
"The president's escalation plan repeats past mistakes. The stakes in Iraq are too high to recycle proposals that have little prospect for success.
"The bipartisan resolution today may be non-binding. But it will send a strong message to the president - we here in Congress are committed to protecting and supporting our troops," [Said Speaker Nanny Pelosi)
House Minority Leader John Boehner had urged lawmakers to vote against the motion, saying it was "the first step towards a tragic, unthinkable goal".
"We face a sophisticated, determined enemy who wants to annihilate our way of life," he said.
HERE is who and how they voted. House.Gov

John Murtha And The Dems Skulduggery
Murtha reminds me of the guy at the bar who, after so much time has passed, just can't contain himself and has to blab to the people in the bar that it's him who robbed the bank and wasn't caught...yet.
Murtha was caught letting the plan out of the bag. The WASHINGTON POST...yeah, not FOX News you Libs out here - THE WASHINGTON POST reporting that:
[The] plans for placing conditions on how President George W. Bush can spend $93.4 billion in new combat funds would effectively stop an American troop buildup.
"They won't be able to continue. They won't be able to do the deployment. They won't have the equipment, they don't have the training and they won't be able to do the work. There's no question in my mind," [said Murtha].
[...]
"We're trying to force a redeployment not by taking money away, by redirecting money," Murtha said, adding he wants U.S. funds to be slanted more toward diplomacy and Iraq reconstruction.
Murtha received heavy and justified criticism (same WaPO story):
"While American troops are fighting radical Islamic terrorists thousands of miles away, it is unthinkable that the United States Congress would move to discredit their mission, cut off their reinforcements and deny them the resources they need to succeed and return home safely," [said Republican John Boehner, House Minority Leader].
Of all the issues to play politics with - and this is all the Dems are doing and have been doing with Iraq, Afghanistan and the War on Terror - the Dems, who claim they're so supportive of the Troops, pick the one - THEE ONE - MOST DIVISIVE ISSUE they could possibly pick; Defunding the Troops, for nothing other than their own, selfish political livelihood.
And a pox on any Republican who votes with the Democrats on the Non-Binding Decorative Ornamental and Anti-Troop Resolution.

Brief Comments On Jet Blue
The plane was like a "sound-proofed coffin" when the windows were iced over, said Carolyn Faucher, another stranded passenger.
Greenberg said she and other passengers were getting testy because the flight attendants told them they couldn't hand out food or water until the plane had been grounded for at least four hours, citing a Federal Aviation Administration rule. At least two of the passengers were diabetic.
Another passenger said there was no power, and flight attendants had to keep opening the doors so they could breathe comfortably.
The company later apologized and said it would offer refunds and free flights to passengers delayed on-board a plane for more than three hours.
The story was front-page news for both New York tabloid newspapers and dominated local television coverage.
If I'm a passenger, after three hours of being held captive on a immobile airplane, anyone sitting within three feet of me - with or without their consent - is seated in the Smoking Permitted Section.

Nanny Pelosi On The News Hour
Yes, Iraq to date has lasted longer than World War II. So what? How is Iraq similar to World War II? Let me know Liberals, why this is a valid and just comparison in your mind.
Nanny Pelosi, on yesterday's PBS News Hour with Jim Lehrer, trying to lend credence for the Democrat's CUT AND RUN - redeployment strategy - said Iraq is in the middle of an Ethnic Cleansing and it's hard to referee a Civil War.

Why then, were the Dems so critical of the Bush Administration for doing nothing in Darfur? Why then , do the Dems regret not getting involved in Rwanda during the Clinton Administration? Pelosi wouldn't say that for reasons of pure politics, would she? Because she basically said on the News Hour that a Civil War and Ethnic Cleansing pretty much needs to be figured out by those involved without outside influence and interference.
World War II had clear cut and identified enemies, we knew who they were and their countries or origin. Do we have this same clear cut identification with Terrorists? With the countries where they live and reside? Is it one country or twenty?
Why is the length of time a fair analogy? And if you can somehow self-rationalize that it is fair, then why is it unfair to say, if judging the success of a war solely on the number dead, Iraq is still the most successful battle in the history of the entire world?
I no longer need to ask Dems if they ever tire of their own hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is a way of life for them, their ability to hold and apply entirely different standards to others while refusing to apply the same standards to themselves.

Senator Al Franken
You may be asking yourself, who are some of the noteworthy and sturdy Minnesotans contributing to Franken's candidacy. Well, according to WCCO Reality Check says, the following Minnesotans have given cash to Al's Political Action Committee:
Barbra Streisand, actors Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christopher Guest, Rob Reiner and Larry Hagman and the executive producer of television's "Saturday Night Live", where Franken got his start.
IN FACT, the former SNL writer and performer raised more than $1 million last year though his political action committee called Midwest Values.
He spent most of it, for political consultants, travel and fundraising.
Here is what you NEED TO KNOW. Franken's Midwest Values PAC gave $137,500 to Democrats running for office around the country last year, including here in Minnesota. The PAC gave $10,000 contributions to candidates Amy Klobuchar, Tim Walz, Patty Wetterling and Coleen Rowley.
Some are saying that Franken has little chance of ousting Republican Senator Norm Coleman. The people who say this are wrong. I'm no fan of Coleman. He did receive my vote four years ago. He will not - I repeat not - get my vote in 2008 for any elected office he may seek.
Coleman used to be a Democrat; a big Liberal Democrat. Coleman flip-flopped on drilling for oil in ANWR, being for it before he was against it. Coleman is for the stupid Non-Binding resolution that the Democrats are giddy over. He has not shed his Liberal skin, not by a long shot.
Liberals also enjoy criticizing New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg for being a Republican. Let's not forget that Bloomberg was a Democrat before he changed parties. He switched parties only for one reason, he knew he had no chance of winning as a Democrat. Bloomberg, like Coleman, still has a great deal of Liberal blood in his system.
Franken's former comedy team partner, Tom Davis, says Al used to be a Pro-Lifer, The American Spectator, May, 2001:
And as his old partner Tom Davis observes, "He does have a conservative streak in him. When I first met him, he was actually pro-life."
[Franken] enlisted in the anti-war (Vietnam) movement, and avoided the military. Moreover, even though Franken practically brags about helping his brother to dodge the draft, he toured for the USO the last two holiday seasons.
Franken has little chance of winning a Senate race? Don't bet on that.

Never underestimate Minnesota Liberals to elect an idiot to office. NEVER!

Support Your Local Boxer
Suppose one group of supporters for boxer 'A' steadfastly supports their man, jumping up and down cheering him on. No matter how many hits and blows their man takes, they keep encouraging and rooting him on. Boxer 'B's' supporters - on the other hand - shake their heads, a look of unyielding loss on their faces. They shout that their man can't win, that he's been hit too hard, that he doesn't have the resolve in him to win the match.
Do you suppose boxer 'A' receives positive reinforcement and drive from his supporters, motivating him to win the match? Do you suppose that boxer 'B' feels rather abandoned by his supporters, asking himself who are these people who claimed they had faith in me; that said I could win?
How is the above scenario different from the lack of moral support of U.S. Troops shown by the Democrats and their idiotic Non-Binding resolution? Would you want these people in your corner? Would you have doubts about their sincerity, their motivation, their lack of enthusiasm? Would you want these people backing your efforts?

Have You Heard?
Mitt Romney Is A Mormon? (GASP!)
Do you suppose Romney received votes from Liberals? Do you suppose these same Liberals who vote for Kennedy and Kerry crossed party lines and voted for Romney? You mean to tell me that come hell or high water the Massachusetts Liberal crowd sacrifices a Democrat in place of a Republican? How did that happen?
How did Romney manage to not raise taxes in Massachusetts? How did he manage to work with State Democrats? How did he manage to reach across the aisle to the Massachusetts Liberal Crowd and accomplish anything?
How did Ronald Reagan win a majority of 49 states? Did Liberals vote for him? They had to, didn't they, in order for him to carry 49 states? How did he ever get elected Governor of California? California is not rich with a voting bloc of Republicans or Conservatives when it comes to that state's political majority voice. You don't suppose he received votes from Liberals and Leftward Leaning Independents, do you?
Romney closed a $3 billion dollar deficit without raising taxes. Romney is a Republican who was elected in a Liberal state. How'd he do that? You don't suppose he received votes from Liberals and Leftward Leaning Independents, do you? How could that happen?
And what do we hear today from the Liberal press about Romney, day after day after day? Whoa...he's a Mormon! A Mormon! The MSM is out there, with their man on the street, actively asking people, "How do you feel about a Mormon in the White House?" A Mormon! A Mormon! Is the sky falling now? Has the blue come crashing down upon us, not from
Please tell me you see the odious duplicity and hypocrisy from the Liberal press and the MSM. Please tell me you see the blatant double standard from the Media.
Because this is the same Media that told us that Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellsion's religion of MUSLIM should not be a factor in his electability. This is the same MSM who vociferously told us that no one should be making a big deal out of Mr. Ellison and his religious practice of Islam. Why, the MSM told us it was politically incorrect to even discuss the fact that Ellison is a Muslim!
Today this is that same MSM that now breathlessly reports Romney's Mormon religion.
And the MSM wonders - they gather, scratching their heads in upper management meetings - why their circulation of newspapers is falling. They wonder why no one watches their evening network newscasts. They wonder why people turn to alternative sources for their news, shunning the conventional and established news outlets.
Huh, it's shocking! Why, I don't know why fewer and fewer people are reading the New York Times, The Minneapolis Star Tribune, The San Francisco Chronicle and others. I don't know why people are tuning out the network evening news. It must be one of those things we call an enigma. No one has the answer. It's a mystery it is, it sure is.

Why So Glum Today?
Did some radio executive tell you, in no uncertain terms, that if you want to remain on the air you'd better talk about newsworthy topics and current events rather than making your program a platform for your personal issues and your cry-baby-rant-a-thon whining?
Did station managers field an overwhelming amount of calls from listeners whom you offended and alienated over the past three days?
Did the big New York AirHead America and Jones Network boys tell little Team Fargo to shape up and quit your bitching or you'd be talking only to the birds in your back yard?
Was it advertisers and sponsors who threatened to yank their underwriting from your program after you insulted them?
Big Ed was begging for calls, just begging for anyone to call him and talk.
Heh - "Oh Dat's So Sad!"

U.S. Economic News Good!
- - - - -
Unemployment rate for January 2007 4.6 %. U.S. Department of Labor
- - - - -
U.S. deficit down 57.2 percent FX Street:
The Treasury Department reported Monday that the deficit for the budget year that began Oct. 1 totals $42.2 billion, down 57.2 percent from the same period a year ago. The amount of revenues collected from October through January were up 9.7 percent from the same period a year ago, climbing to a record level for the period of $834.1 billion. Government spending also set a record for the period, but the growth was a slower 2.1 percent, pushing the total to $876.3 billion for the first four months of the current budget year.
The continued strong growth in revenues reflects the record profits corporations have been recording in recent years and low levels of unemployment, which means more Americans are working and paying taxes. For the full year, the Congressional Budget Office is forecasting that the budget deficit will shrink to around $200 billion. The deficit for the 2006 budget year, which ended last Sept. 30, was $247.7 billion, the lowest in four years.
Bill Clinton, in his wildest and wettest dreams didn't have this and yet, the Libs point to his eight years as the best economy ever! Lies, just lies from the Lefties.
None of this economic news will make Liberals happy. They'll respond with...are you ready...."LET'S RAISE TAXES!"
Ed Schultz Has On-Air Meltdown, Or: When Liberals Eat Their Own It's Damn Funny!
Ed is fit to be tied because another AirHead America Talker, Sham Seder, encouraged his listeners to contact XM Satellite and tell them to carry the Thom Hartmann program instead of Ed's show. Apparently Ed is under the assumption that his deal with XM was cut and dried. The following message is posted at Majority Report Radio, home to Seder:
February 8, 2007
You choose
As most of you know Al Franken is leaving AAR for other pursuits.
I'll miss Al and think there'd be no AAR without him, but I am psyched to have Thom Hartmann in the AAR lineup. Many of you know I am a big fan of his.
However, there's a rumor going around that Thom won't be carried by XM on the AAR channel. Instead they'll carry Ed Schultz. If I listened to AAR through XM- I'd be pissed.... let them know how you feel.
Ed ripped into AA's business practices, its affiliates, its personalities and its audience and listeners.
Excerpts from his morning cry-baby-rant-a-thon are as follows:
"Air America [is] rotten business people."[sic]
"If you listen to Air America, I don't want you listening to me."
"Mike Malloy is a hate merchant."
"Air America sucks!"
"[Air America] undercuts everybody."
"Air America lies."
"Air America sucks. They suck. They're mean and nasty."
"I wish Air America would go away and shut up."
"[Air America] has never sold an ad."
"Al Franken leaving is the best thing that ever happened [to Air America]."
"Air America is robbing people."
"I'm not going to be nice about Air America anymore."
Not only did he rip listeners, he ripped people - on the air - who called in to offer their views of this hilarious situation.
While I don't have an MBA, I'll take a wild stab at a basic business principle; that being, insulting your audience and listeners - as well as the stations that carry you - isn't a good thing to do.
There's (at least) Three Golden Rules in Radio: 1) You make sure that the "7 Dirty Words" never get broadcast over the air thereby jeopardizing your FCC license or risking a fine, 2) You DO NOT insult advertisers and sponsors, and 3) You DO NOT insult your listeners and audience. Well Fat Ed, you nailed Numbers 2 and 3...are you going to shoot for violating Number 1 tomorrow?
Schultz is spiraling out of control, falling, falling and falling deeper into a pit from which he'll never recover. You don't suppose he's boozing it up prior to, and during, his show, do you?
I seldom, very very seldom, do predictions, but here's one for you: AA stations are going to stop carrying the Fat Eddy Show soon. Very soon.
It's funny - downright knee-slapping ribald, stop-my gut is hurting funny - when Liberals cannibalize their own.

Mitt Romney Attacked By Jews
This story is unbelievable, absolutely and absurdly unbelievable.
The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) expressed its deep concerns today about Republican Mitt Romney's decision to announce his candidacy for President from the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit, Michigan:
"NJDC is deeply troubled by Governor Romney's choice of locations to announce his Presidential campaign. Romney has been traveling the country talking about inclusiveness and understanding of people from all walks of life. Yet he chooses to kick off his presidential campaign on the former estate of a well-known and outspoken anti-Semite and xenophobe. Mitt Romney's embrace of Henry Ford and association of Ford's legacy with his presidential campaign raises serious questions about either the sincerity of Romney's words or his understanding of basic American history," said NJDC Executive Director Ira Forman.
I found no matches, while searching your site, Ira, using the terms: 'Hillary Clinton jew', Hillary Clinton fucking jew', Hillary Clinton fucking jew bastard' or 'Hillary Clinton Jew Boy'. Why is that Ira? Why no condemnation of Mrs. Clinton? It's not because she panders and postures herself to the Jewish voting bloc, is it? You know, this is the woman who kissed Suha Arafat. Let's not forget that to say Bill Clinton embraced PLO terrorist-leader Yasser Arafat would be an understatement.
This story - the NJDC criticizing Romney - couldn't be more of a non-story. Romney's appearance at the Henry Ford Museum does not raise any questions about his sincerity or his understanding of American History.
What is does raise is why Ira Forman and the NJDC is so soft on Hillary Clinton, letting her off the hook for answering questions about her own Anti-Semitism.
People like Ira Forman actively seek and see Anti-Semitism in places it doesn't exist. And they actively deny it where and when it does exist. Like Hillary Clinton.
By the way Ira, Bill Clinton praised Henry Ford...why is there nothing on your site critical of him on this issue? I mean, Anti-Semitism IS Anti-Semitism, isn't it - even when it doesn't exist?

Dirty Deeds
Oh Those Liberals! A Neverending Saga
The Libs like to point out Rush Limbaugh's prior Oxycontin addiction. GASP! Like any other addiction - alcohol, drugs, gambling...whatever - he got help for his problem. Boy, that's just real terrible stuff, isn't it? Certainly far worse than Ted Kennedy's manslaughter, letting a woman drown while he went home, got a good night's sleep and then, the next day, reported the "accident" to the authorities. He also found time to procure a neck brace and make sure the press got photos of him wearing it.
No Liberal has ever become addicted to anything, have they? No. Oh wait, seems to me I recall Patrick Kennedy - another Kennedy, imagine that - had quite the problems last year with prescription drugs. And booze! A Kennedy...with a booze problem? Those good Catholic boy Kennedys? Surely its an aberration. He sought "treatment" for his problem which, if memory serves, was his second - maybe his third - trip into rehab. Well, people say the third time is the charm!
Gavin Newsom, the Democrat mayor of San Francisco, who had an affair with the wife of one of his aides announced he will seek treatment for...wait for it...alcoholism.
And then we have Republican Mark Foley, whose emails and Instant Messages were indeed deplorable. But no evidence exits at all indicating he had any physical relationship with anyone underage unlike DemocRATS Gerry Studds, Mel Reynolds, Fred Richmond and Gus Savage.
How is it the big-tent, all inclusive Democrats can forgive Robert Byrd for being a member of the KKK? Beyond the KKK, the DemocRATS fought tooth and nail against Civil Rights in the 1960s with Albert Gore, Sr. (father of the guy who invented the internets) one of the leading anti-Civil Rights cheerleaders. Whew, good thing Daddy Gore wasn't a Republican!
Newt Gingrich - the Dems always point out that he's been married three times! GASP! Well, Dennis Kucinich is on his third marriage. Ted Kennedy is on his second marriage. John Kerry is on his second marriage. Barney Frank - who knows how many guys he's boinked and how many guys he's let boink him! Oh those Good Olde Fashioned DemocRAT Family Values!
Jesse Jackson? We've all lost count on how many illegitimate children he's fathered out of wedlock. Good thing he's a DemocRAT and not a Republican. Good move on your part, Reverend. (The link to the illegitimate children, by the way - for all you Liberals - is a CNN story. And I know how CNN is held as nothing but gospel by you Libs. CNN would never lie to you. That's why I linked to it.)
Both Bubba and Hillary are on their one and only marriage, perhaps to two least likely people who should stay married. We all know how many extra-marital affairs Bill has had. Had Monica Lewinsky not had that famous stained blue dress the Clinton smear machine would have ruined her reputation just as they smeared the lives of Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Elizabeth Ward Gracen and others. And let's not forget Juanita Broaddrick's allegation that Bill Clinton raped her. This allegation is, for all intense purposes, probably true. Does the Left care one iota about it? Not at all.
And it's great and okay to be gay...as long as you're a DemocRAT and not Mark Foley, Ted Haggard or Mary Cheney. Then you're open season for all sorts of insults, ridicule and the target of smear campaigns from the Left.
DemocRATS have no problem spending money, the sky is the limit on any number of their programs, no matter how ineffectual they may be. Suddenly, the cost of the Iraq War is and contentious issue for them. My how their hypocrisy squeals. Pot, meet kettle!
Let's not forget about Halliburton, why, they're just a sponge soaking up government contracts and money. But Loral Group, that sold missile technology to China - you may have noticed, if you're paying attention, at how China has recently perfected its missile technology - under the Clinton Administration, the Left has no qualms with this whatsoever.
And what did Bill Clinton call his humidor? Monica Lewinsky. What a great place to store his cigars, keeping them moist and fresh!
You Dems sure are quite the party, full of such respectable individuals and esteemed candidates and politicians. You have so very much of which to be proud! Hold your head up high! March like the righteous individuals you are! But don't get in a car that Ted Kennedy is driving, especially by any bodies of water. Wait - on second though, all you Dems should charter a big bus, hop on board and let Ted drive, giving you a tour of all the best bodies of water up and down the Eastern Coast.

Saturday
We do know that Liberal Mentality - disease that it is - allows them to "believe" that everything ever done by a DemocRAT and a Liberal is always - always - the very best thing for everyone, while anything done by a Republican (or for that matter anyone who ISN'T a LiberTard) is simply bad, evil and vile. You know the drill...prosperity under Clinton/Gore=Good. Prosperity under Reagan or Bush=Bad. I often wonder what it must be like to live in a world composed of nothing but solid black and white, no gray. These Libs sure know how to do it, though, don't they?
Liberal writer Molly Ivins died last month. She died from breast cancer. Does anyone know if she smoked cigarettes? Often, when someone dies of any type of cancer and they smoked, that information is publicized for no other reason than to reinforce the connection between any type of cancer and cigarettes.
Liberal Radio's Randi Rhodes, in her endless eulogizing of Ivins, noted that the two of them spent a fair share of time together - no doubt bashing Bush, Republicans and any idea not offered by Liberals. Wikipedia and the Miami Herald describe Rhodes as a "chain-smoking bottle blond." Maybe Rhodes' second-hand smoke is responsible for Ivins' cancer? Maybe Randi and her smoking caused Ivins' death? Randi, is your smoking responsible for killing your friend? All I can say is, Randi keep smoking, please - by all that is holy, good and righteous - keep smoking those cigarettes...several packs a day. Several several packs a day.
Liberals are funny, aren't they? If they weren't so dangerous, why, they'd almost be likable! Okay, maybe not.
I have a NHL Game to watch tonight - WILD v HURRICANES.

Richard Branson's Atmosphere
Now, here's someone who, for decades, thought nothing of taking his private jumbo jet anywhere and everywhere across the planet. His carbon footprint is probably second only to Al Gore's carbon footprint.
And now Branson is a cheerleader against so-called global warming, wanting to reduce the quality of life for those who are not as wealthy as he is, who don't have their own personal jumbo-jet at their disposal?
No dichotomy or hypocrisy on his part, is there?

Ed Schultz: Liberal Radio's Trash Talker
Look in the mirror Fat Man, look in the mirror.
33 minutes into hour three, Ed says, "What constitutes a whore? How many men does a woman have to sleep with before she's a whore? I'm just asking."
Huh, I don't know Ed - maybe you should ask the people who knew Ann Richards or Molly Ivins. Jane Fonda can probably answer your question from her own personal experience. Wait, I know - ask your Liberal Radio colleague Randi Rhodes - she makes no secret of her rock groupie past, hell - she's an ultra-absorbent human DNA sponge.
Later, Fat Ass Ed made a feeble attempt to correlate the media coverage of Smith's death to somehow negatively affecting the morale of U.S. Troops in Iraq, while ignoring the last four years of nothing but negativity spewed by Lefties like himself and Democrat politicians and their complete disdain of the Military and our Troops.
"Dead" Schultz is pushing the envelope because his timeslot is now up against the same timeslot as Rush Limbaugh. And Fat Eddy's ratings are tanking, not that anyone on Liberal Radio has any ratings to brag about anyway. 0.02 ratings isn't anything to write home about, hell - I talk to a bigger audience when I visit a coffee shop.
How can anyone trust the words of a man who, in a drunken stupor of a hunting trip, shoots and kills his own dog?
Memo to Ed's new Labrador, Buck: Watch out, your owner is highly prone to shoot and kill you during a future drunken hunting trip.
Please do us all a favor Fat Man, make your wife Wendy a widow. The next time you hop on your treadmill, have a massive, explosive and fatal heart attack and step off the planet.

Anna Nicole Smith, Rest In Peace
The Jealousy Crowd - those not as pretty as Anna Nicole - were the first to attack her, never relenting in their blatant envy of her during her lifetime. Not long ago, shortly after Daniel died, the bile ridden and bitter Liberal Talk Radio's Stephanie Miller, her sissified and effeminate engineer Chris Lavoie and jowly Jim Ward could barely contain themselves from asserting baseless allegations that Anna was having an intimate affair with her own son. While none of their wild speculation has ever been proven, they continued to promote their groundless and unsupported rumor mongering. And some of you who visit and read this blog wonder why I show little compassion when a Democrat dies?
Today Miller reported that Smith "choked to death on her own vomit," which is completely contrary to what the medical examiner said this afternoon, mainly that there was no sign of asphyxia due to aspiration. Clearly Miller, Lavoie, Ward and people like them are miserable individuals who can only prop themselves up and make themselves feel better by casting wildly unproven rumors towards those of whom they are jealous, resentful and bitter.
Anna was a topic of ridicule for comedians and sketch comedy when she gained some weight. But she managed to lose the weight and reinvent herself which is something many celebrities are never able to accomplish.
In some ways I felt sorry for her. Like many a great beauty, she was used and abused by the hangers-on that surrounded her and some of her employers. Use 'em up, make as much money off them as you can, spit 'em out. Like Marilyn Monroe, she had a certain tragic quality to her. Money, fame and celebrity doesn't always equal happiness. I think she put on a brave face after her son died and that somehow she knew, after that devastating loss, that her time was limited - even though she had a newborn daughter for which to care.
No matter who you are - rich or not, famous or not - something inside any parent dies when they lose a son or daughter. I don't think any parent fully recovers from that. If you don't believe it, ask a parent who's lost a child, they'll tell you.
I don't think she was a grandstander or pretended to be somebody that she wasn't. I think that who she was is who we saw. I don't think she had many, if any, pretenses about her. She put herself in front of the camera when she looked her very best and when she didn't.
I like her - I liked her. May she Rest In Peace and may her daughter be blessed with people who will take care of her and raise her with love.

The Incredibly Gorgeous Anna Nicole Smith
Dick Cohen: Another Democrat
Addicted To Spending

...uh...make that Richard Cohen.
Dick is a Minnesota State DemocRAT. Like all DemocRATS, Dick is addicted to spending money. He just can't stop himself, it's something that's inbred in all DemocRATS. Dick has spent a lot of his life in politics. We can only imagine how much taxpayer money he's wasted in all those years.
Well...Dick has the bright idea that the State should pay off the city of St. Paul's remaining debt on Xcel Center which is where my beloved NHL Minnesota Wild plays hockey. The Center is also home to many other shows, programs, concerts and functions.
From the above linked story:
A group of St. Paul legislators want the state to pay off nearly $100 million in city debt on the Xcel Energy Center and the River Centre convention center, in part to help spiff up the facilities for the 2008 GOP National Convention.
A bill introduced at the Capitol seeks $98.5 million in debt relief, to pay off $55.8 million in bonds for River Centre and its parking ramp, and $42.7 million to pay off an interest-free state loan on the Xcel Arena.
City officials said the money would help upgrade River Centre before the GOP convention and pay for renovations at the adjoining Roy Wilkins Auditorium.
A chief sponsor, Sen. Dick Cohen, DFL-St. Paul, said the state help would not benefit owners of the Minnesota Wild hockey team, which calls the Xcel Center home.
Cohen and St. Paul city officials point out that the Legislature paid off $87 million on bonds to clear the way for an expansion of the Minneapolis Convention Center in 1998. City Councilman Don Bostrom said River Centre and Xcel should similarly be viewed as a "statewide asset" since it draws state tournaments and conventions.
[...]
The 2008 GOP convention and the accompanying attention it will bring to the Twin Cities may give St. Paul extra standing for its request, although the city was considering a debt relief request to the state even before Republicans picked the Twin Cities.
While St. Paul's legislative delegation is entirely Democratic, they could have a Republican ally in U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, who led the drive for the Xcel Center when he was St. Paul mayor and was also instrumental in convincing the Republican National Committee to choose the Twin Cities for 2008.
"If you look at the amount the state has put into the Minneapolis Convention Center and the Twins stadium, doing this for Xcel and the River Centre makes it more equitable," said Bill Huepenbecker, a senior aide to Coleman and a former River Centre director.
It's not that St. Paul City is having trouble paying off Xcel Center. It's...apparently...the '08 Republican Convention and that the Wild are a "statewide asset" that now drives this scheme to pass the cost of the debt on to the entire state? Were not the terms of building, bonding and paying for Xcel Center by the City already inked when the city council voted and passed the fine print of how it would be paid and by whom?
AND NOW YOU WANT TO PASS THE COST ON TO THE ENTIRE STATE?
Look, I love my MN Wild and I love Xcel Center, it's a great place. But this is not the issue. The issue is, once again, government - in this case the City of St. Paul - when building the arena, saying it will be financed by the CITY and its RESIDENTS, NOT THE STATE. And then, "X" years later changing their tune and wanting to pass the cost onto people who were
Please Contact DICK and tell him to stop this scheme.
St. Paul City was proud that "THEY" were willing to pay the price of Xcel. "The NHL has a home in St. Paul," the politicians and residents alike said. They've done a good job paying for it, too. If the residents didn't like it - back then - they had the opportunity to vote the politicians out of office who were for it. Don't come back years later and try to foist this TAX INCREASE on people of who were never intended to be financially responsible for this.
And hey - DICK - just one personal question, if you don't mind. Um...what IS that thing on your head?

Nanny Pelosi Has Plane Envy

She's not content with the (ahem) size of her (ahem) plane. Plane Envy!
Nanny Pelosi already has a plane at her disposal - as well as security, protection and means of communication - since she is Speakeress Of the House. But no, she's not content with it, she wants to keep up with the
She wants to be able to take her entourage with her. She thinks she's a Rock Star or Rapper!
Hasn't anyone pointed out to her the wasteful carbon footprint she'll be leaving on the environment with a large plane? Maybe Albert Gore, Jr. needs to have a tete-a-tete with her explaining how her Plane Envy would so negatively impact our precious limited natural resources.
How does her having a bigger, more expensive, plane fit into the Dems plan of cutting waste in Washington?
This isn't about her safety, being third in line for the White House. She can have all the safety measures any politician needs with a Gulfstream.
Denny Hastert, former Speaker, would often take a car from DC home to Illinois. He also flew via a C-20B. This isn't good enough for Queen Pelosi?
Nanny Pelosi wants her own Military Plane, at the expense of the taxpayers; Black Gold, Texas Tea. Who does she think she is?
It's not about the security and it's not about communication. Nanny wants the Key to the Executive Restroom. She has (ahem) Plane Envy.
Give her the keys to a used Prius. That's all she deserves. Let her drive from DC to California.
I guess the title Speakeress of The House has worn off. Now she wants to be Queen Pelosi.

Ed Schultz Soft Ball Questions MrsSatan

Ed Schultz, proving he's no softy, asked
"[You look great] are you working out?"
"Do you like campaigning [for President]?"
"How does it feel being the front-runner?"
"Why do you think the crowd in Iowa laughed when you were asked about 'evil men'?"
"Where do you stand on Iraq?" (Depends on the moment, Ed. Don't you know this by now?-Drake)
Ed, I'm only trying to help you out. Try the following hard-hitting questions the next time you interview
"What's your favorite color?"
"Jay-Z or P-Diddy?"
"Velveeta or Brie?"
"Johnnie Walker; 'Red' or 'Black'?"
"If you were a tree, what sort of tree would you be?"
"'Curly' or Joe DeRita?"
"Shemp, or Joe DeRita?"
Always glad to help out, Ed...always!

Non-Binding Resolutions - What They Good For? (Grunt!) Absolutely Nothin' !
I think it's great that Republicans offered the Democrats the opportunity to debate their Non-Binding Resolution and they turned the Republicans down flat! All that was being asked of the Democrats was for them to bring all their cards to the table, but no, the Dems want their cake and want to eat it, too. So the Republicans, using the same strategy and tactics that Democrats have employed when THEY have been the minority party, gets the CommieCrats all riled up. Apparently the Dems don't like it when they have to drink their own Kool-Aid. Oh How Rich...How Creamy, gooey, chocolaty, nougat-filled Rich!
We need to ask ourselves why the Dems are so fixated - so preoccupied - so obsessed - with their stupid Non-Binding resolution. The Dems, with their inherent 20-20 tunnel vision, cannot and will not abandon their ridiculous and absurd Non-Binding resolution. This Non-Binding resolution is as meaningless and as vapid as the Democrat party itself.
Why do you suppose that is? Is it for the good of the Troops? Does it support them somehow? Is it for the good of the country? Is it good for of the Iraqi? Is it a morale booster? Or is it, for no other reason, a political ploy meant only to sustain their political livelihood?
The Dems have made their point; they don't support the Troops, the War, the President, Iraq, the Mission or any proposal or idea offered by anyone other than themselves. They've always operated like this, it's no mystery.
If the Democrats mean what they say, why settle for a Non-Binding resolution? Instead, go ahead Dems - put on your Big Boy Pants and pony up to the bar with a Binding Resolution to defund the Military. Why, if you are so solidly backed by the American People - as you so habitually claim - then you should have the courage to put your Binding Resolution yanking Military funding up to a 'Yea or Nay' vote. Why pussyfoot around with a Non-Binding Resolution? Why? So the Dems can play both sides of the issue; so they don't have to commit themselves one way or the other and can escape from being held responsible and accountable for their actions.
We have a group of politicians, the Democrats, who - as they always have - stand for absolutely nothing (except Taxing and Spending, of course). They are afraid to take a firm stand by solidly backing their own dogma in cutting the funding of the Iraq War.
They are afraid of this because it would return to haunt them. They are afraid to support the War because they will pay the price of losing their constituents, let alone exposing their own hypocrisies and insincerities.
If the Democrats had a collective spine, they would make their measure to defund one that is binding. But their resolution is nothing but ornamental. They've discovered that the Republicans - at least for the time being - aren't going to contribute to this false and phony decorative Non-Binding Resolution.
No one in America can afford not to have the Republicans defending the U.S. Military. Leaving the health of the Military in the hands of the Democrats would be one of the worst things that could happen. We saw what happened and how the Military was gutted under Clinton-Gore for eight years.
I hope the Republicans hold firm on this issue. They have to, for if they cave - and we all know how often the past has proven their ability to cave - they have to know it will be the end of their party.
©2007
UPDATE: John Warner, R-VA is ready to cave. No surprise here.
Should the Republicans find themselves an even smaller minority after the 2008 election, they needn't ask how or why it happened. It will have happened because they don't play hardball politics with the Democrats. The Democrats are opponents of Republicans - enemies if you want to use a more harsh word. The Democrats, with their new-found majority, will fight like RATS backed into a corner in order to keep their majority status. They will lie, cheat, steal, sell their Grandmother and their Grandchildren in order to never be in the minority again. Until the Republicans adopt this same style of politicking, they can forget about being the majority party for decades to come. And it'll serve them right for thinking that they can compromise, bargain and negotiate with the Dems.

Local Politico May Lose Law License
According to KSTP News:
John Hottinger is in jeopardy over allegations he misused money from a client's lawsuit settlement, an infraction that he admitted took place while he was still a legislator. Hottinger said he effectively borrowed money from the trust account to help him pay his mortgage. He said he was financially strapped as a legislator making $31,000 a year. He said he planned to get the money from his retirement account once his career in the Legislature ended. The $22,000 settlement reached in Jan. 10, 2006, for a client identified only by her initials was meant to pay her legal and medical bills and other costs. Hottinger personally received $4,910 for representing the woman. Beginning Jan. 12, Hottinger wrote six checks from the trust fund ranging from $500 to $3,000. On April 12, the account became overdrawn when a check was made out to a clinic. Hottinger replenished the account in June.
The Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility board filed a petition Tuesday asking the state Supreme Court to suspend or disbar Hottinger from practicing law for taking $8,820 from a trust account set up when a personal injury lawsuit was settled. He has since repaid the money.

RT Ryback Back At The State Trough
From WCCO News:
"Minneapolis faces a serious public safety challenge that requires us to continue to make significant investments to fight crime," said Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak on Tuesday, in a plea directed at Minnesota Legislators to restore local government aid to the city.
Minneapolis decided to spend money on a high-tech crime fighting device, the Shotspotter, a device that:
...utilizes patented technology to detect weapons-fire events over large, complex environments. ShotSpotter products range from systems for public safety agencies and 911 dispatch centers (which instantly identify, locate and give a visual of the location of a gunshot....
Boston has just approved $1.5 Million for their ShotSpotter system.
Soooooooo....I take it the Minneapolis "Peace Bus" and Lemonade Stands aren't the Criming Fighting tools that Minneapolis thought they would be?
And of course we have to consider the words of the great Minneapolis Star Tribune Sports Nonagenarian Sid Hartman, who says that all you need to combat crime is having large crowds of people. Why, who knew it was so simple!
Minneapolis and Saint Paul receive state funding for crime. Just last month, when State Republicans told both Rybak and St. Paul
How each city and its Mayor and City Council decide to spend it is their choice. Instead of spending it where it really needs to be spent - perhaps on hiring more Police Officers, especially those on street patrol - they spend it on non-human technology. Now, I'm not saying that the ShotSpotter doesn't have a purpose or that is doesn't help, in some way, to combat crime. But if you're the victim of a crime, who do you want helping you; an Officer or non-human technology?
Yeah, well - at least no one has to breathe Second-Hand Smoke in Minneapolis, right?

HNN: Hillary News Network™© (or: What's MrsSatan Up To Now?)
Glad you asked!
Ralph Nader says, "I don't think [Hillary] has the fortitude [to be president]. Actually she's really a panderer and a flatterer. As she goes around the country, you'll see more of that."
In her Des Moines debut, presidential candidate Clinton attempted to explain her 2002 vote in favor of a Senate resolution "to authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces against Iraq" (S.J. Res. 45): "I said that we should not go to war unless we have allies. So (President Bush) took the authority that I and others gave him and he misused it, and I regret that deeply. And if we had known then what we know now, there never would have been a vote and I never would have voted to give this president that authority."
[...]
"There is a very easy way to prevent anyone from being put into harm's way, that is for Saddam Hussein to disarm. And I have absolutely no belief that he will. I have to say that this is something I've followed for more than a decade. If he were serious about disarming, he would have been much more forthcoming. ... I ended up voting for the resolution after carefully reviewing the information, intelligence that I had available, talking with people whose opinions I trusted, trying to discount the political or other factors that I didn't believe should be in any way part of this decision."
Now...she pretends she was somehow tricked into voting for the War by George W. Bush, the most inept and stupid President in our history.

Al Franken And Cocaine Hypocrisy
"It's deeply unfortunate, kind of pathetic, and completely unsurprising that Senator Norm Coleman and his Republican allies are already dragging out decades-old quotes and taking them out of context to suggest that Al is a homophobe and a crack addict."
Franken's own words/direct quote from pages 108-109:
"There was not as much cocaine as you would think on the premises. Yeah, a number of people got in trouble. But cocaine was used mainly just to stay up. There was a very undisciplined way of writing the show, which was staying up all night on Tuesday. We didn't have the kind of hours that normal people have. And so there was a lot of waiting 'til Tuesday night, and then going all night, and at two or three or four in the morning, doing some coke to stay up, as opposed to doing a whole bunch, and doing nitrous oxide, and laughing at stuff.
"People used to ask me about this and I'd always say, 'No, there was no coke. It's impossible to do the kind of show we were doing and do drugs.' And so that was just a funny lie that I liked to tell. Kind of the opposite was true, unfortunately - for some people, it was impossible to do the show without the drugs. Comedians and comedy writers and people in show business in general aren't the most disciplined people, so the idea of putting the writing off until you had to, and then staying up all night, was an attractive one. And then having this drug that kept you awake in an enjoyable way was kind of tempting too. But I only did cocaine to stay awake to make sure nobody else did too much cocaine. That was the only reason I ever did it. Heh-heh."
From page 82 of the same hardcover edition, Ebersol says:
"My office was on the fourth floor. The writers basically never got there before one o'clock in the afternoon - ever. We had so little space. Herb Sargent was back in a corner. In the hallway to Herb's office were like (Al) Franken and (Tom) Davis and Alan Zweibel, the three apprentice writers. Al and Tom had bought their first-ever cocaine, and they had it all out on the desk. First time they were ever able to buy any. As apprentice writers, their pay was, I think, $325 a week. So they have the cocaine on the desk, they're like literally staring at it. I'm off in the distance. I'm in a tough place because I'm supposedly the executive, but I decided it wasn't my jobs to play the policeman."
"My breakup with Al was hardly a matter of shaking hands and going separate ways. It was a really ugly divorce. It was just hideous. It was precipitated by someone he knew having to enter a twelve-step program. And they really had to. They had a serious problem. And then Al wanted me to go into a twelve-step program. And I didn't want to go. And then I got married in '89 and we were already drifting apart significantly. Because Al was into Al-Anon at that time. And the show kind of became twelve-step comedy. I just wasn't going to join the program. That was one of the issues.
"He thought I was an alcoholic and a drug addict. He called me a garden-variety alcoholic and drug addict. He did his share of my drugs. He did plenty of experiments. I don't want to embarrass him now, because I don't think he needs that for his current career of whatever, but it was common knowledge."
Well, he's on record about his past, no doubt about it. Franken is being held to the same standard that he applies to others. Now, he doesn't want the same applied to him? That's too bad for the Sad Man from Liberal Talk Radio.
As Franken presses on with his desire for political office more and more skeletons from his closet will come up for examination and questioning This is exactly how it should be, considering Franken does the very same thing to those he chooses to smear.

Happy Birthday Alice Cooper!

From the above link:
Originally, there was a band called Alice Cooper led by a singer named Vincent Damon Furnier. Under his direction, Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical and violent brand of heavy metal that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, heavy metal, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood, and huge boa constrictors, all coordinated by the heavily made-up Furnier. By that time, Furnier had adopted the name for his androgynous on-stage personality.
[...]
Released in the summer of 1972, School's Out was Alice Cooper's breakthrough record, peaking at number two and selling over a million copies. The title song became a Top Ten hit in the U.S. and a number one single in the U.K. Billion Dollar Babies, released the following year, was the group's biggest hit, reaching number one in both America and Britain; the album's first single, "No More Mr. Nice Guy," became a Top Ten hit in Britain, peaking at number 25 in the U.S.

Kucinich brought his presidential campaign to New Hampshire on Saturday, speaking to Cheshire County Democrats.

MrsSatan Takes Tough Stance On Iran:
Maybe, Sorta, Kind Of...
"U.S. policy must be clear and unequivocal: We cannot, we should not, we must not permit Iran to build or acquire nuclear weapons," Clinton told the audience. "In dealing with this threat ... no option can be taken off the table."
[...]
...she called the Iranian administration's "pro-terrorist, anti-American, anti-Israeli rhetoric."
[...]
"We need to use every tool at our disposal, including diplomatic and economic in addition to the threat and use of military force," she said.
What she says about Iran isn't that different than what she said about Iraq (10th paragraph of link), which is now something she's trying to back-peddle on:
It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security.
Surely a Commiecrat Dove like MrsSatan can find solutions to everything by "talking with our enemies", can't she?

She's for being tough on Iran after she was against it but before she said that after reading all the facts and gathering all her own information she was against it, but then she changed her mind...again, because she is for it now, until it no longer becomes popular and then she'll be against it because she always was. Until she changes her mind. Again. But that was before, this is now, so she may be against it until she is for it, which is the opposite of what she said before she said what she said before, which was after what she said after she said she said when she was against it before, after the time before being against it.
She never flip-flops, does she? I can see why she wants to be the president, can't you? Surely this is one, qualified woman who steadfastly stands her ground, a woman deeply rooted in firm and consistent beliefs, never pandering to popular opinion, no matter how misguided it may be.

Another Liberal Trashes The Troops
Here's the video:
H/T: Morning Coffee
For decades the Left has instructed us that in a Politically Correct
The Left has carried their "words have impact and effects" social engineering into adulthood too, reminding us that words mean things even when they don't mean things. For instance, telling a female co-worker, "that's a nice dress", or, "you look nice" unmistakably means that you want to have sex with her right then and there on the desk, doesn't it?
So for the hypocrisy of the Left to say that they "support the Military but not the war" really - by all means - rings as hollow and insensitive as it really is. No Liberal critic is stretching the truth or being - in the eyes of a Liberal - "hurtful" or "mean-spirited" when saying the Left is anti-American. The Left is anti-American and void of Patriotism. You cannot say you support the Troops and in the next breath claim you don't support their mission. It's no different than, and I've written this before, telling your child that while he or she sucks at volleyball, soccer or band, you'll support their attempts at that sport or activity.
And along comes one of the most disgusting OpEd pieces that the Washington Post has ever published by William Arkin:
I'm sure the soldiers were expressing a majority opinion common amongst the ranks - that's why it is news - and I'm also sure no one in the military leadership or the administration put the soldiers up to expressing their views, nor steered NBC reporter Richard Engel to the story.
I'm all for everyone expressing their opinion, even those who wear the uniform of the United States Army. But I also hope that military commanders took the soldiers aside after the story and explained to them why it wasn't for them to disapprove of the American people.
And Billy, you want to extend Freedom of Speech to the critics of the Troops while not extending the same courtesy to the Men and Women in the Military? Typical Liberal hypocrisy, wanting to reserve an action or freedom only for yourself but not for your critics. Why are you afraid to hear what the Troops have to say? Afraid of how it may adversely affect the Liberal Political Agenda?
I'll accept that the soldiers, in order to soldier on, have to believe that they are manning the parapet, and that's where their frustrations come in. I'll accept as well that they are young and naive and are frustrated with their own lack of progress and the never changing situation in Iraq. Cut off from society and constantly told that everyone supports them, no wonder the debate back home confuses them.
It's people like Arkin who, from within the safety of the U.S. shores and the confines of their comfy ID-card-access-only office building, will spout their anti-Military and anti-American rhetoric. As long as people like Arkin feel safe and secure from personal harm, they will attack and demean any idea, solution or ideology that isn't in perfect harmony with their own rhetoric.
For decades Liberals have made no secret of their contempt for all things Military. Now, they want to pretend that their carefully chosen words of "supporting the Troops but not the Mission" isn't what they say it is. You're not fooling anyone but yourselves. You're just like Democrat Senator Carl Levin who scrapes a few wisps of hair over his head, comb-over style, fooling only himself that he isn't bald as a cueball. This is what the Liberal party is today, folks - the political ideology equivalent of a pathetic comb-over.
Liberals like Arkin and his kind should be ashamed of themselves, their actions and their words. But their arrogance, elitism and enormous overinflated self-importance doesn't allow these people any sense of shame or disgrace.
It must be somehow satisfying for Arkin and his ilk who endlessly criticize the people who are willing to sacrifice their lives so that Arkin, and those like him, can talk out of their ass thereby identifying themselves as truly nothing other than America-haters and haters of freedom. Especially those who will sacrifice their lives for asshats like Arkin, who harbor nothing but pure disdain for the Military.
It's too bad that these people aren't imprisoned for the duration of this war, much like Abraham Lincoln did and much like what had been done in past wars in regard to how turncoats were treated. Traitors like Arkin - and that's exactly what these people are - are anything but supportive of our freedoms and rights. What would motivate someone like Arkin writing such a piece? A complete and utter devotion to all things Liberal, a hatred for the country in which he lives and a hatred of the Military.
For decades one of the most prominent Liberal planks in their party platform was that of anti-Militarism. Everyone knows this, it is no secret. Suddenly, the Left did a 180 in 2004 when they realized they could tout John Kerry's military service in Vietnam. But in 1996 the Left made it clear that Bob Dole shouldn't proudly tout his Military service when he ran against the draft-dodging Bill Clinton. Former Military Generals who are Conservative are routinely bashed by the Left. But oh how the Left will hold Wesley Clark in nothing but the highest esteem.
You understand how it works by now, don't you? The standards Liberals apply to others do not apply to themselves. Liberals are free to turn 180s at a moments notice as long as it gives them the opportunity to advance their Liberal Agenda. This is all it's about for these people.
Arkin claims to have military service in his past. Taking my cue from what I wrote above on Liberal Radio hosts, there's no reason we should believe him. And even if he can prove it, there's no reason to believe that whatever proof he has is factual. Kind of like Dan Rather's faux and manufactured George W. Bush National Guard story.
