Dianne Mandernach Update

Dianne Mandernach, the woefully inadequate and unqualified Minnesota State Health Commissioner, is resigning effective October 2, 2007. MPR:

Minnesota's embattled health commissioner Diane Mandernach is resigning, effective Oct. 2. Mandernach has been criticized for withholding information on the cancer deaths of 35 miners.

You remember Dianne, don't you? She was the one who intentionally delayed and withheld releasing a critical and vital report concerning cancer related to asbestos in Northern Minnesota's mining region. WCCO:

The department discovered in March 2006 that a rare, asbesetos [sic]-related cancer had stricken 35 more miners. Seventeen cases had been previously known. All the miners have died.

According to documents obtained by the Star Tribune, officials had planned last year to disclose the information. But state Health Commissioner Dianne Mandernach rejected those plans last fall.

Good, I'm glad she will soon be out of public service. I hope she never again is placed in, or seeks, any position in government as an appointee or elected office...not even as a dog catcher.
