Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Which
Democrat Candidate Will Pander
To The Gayest Voter Of Them All?
...And a marvelous and fabulous gay debate, it was!
I didn't watch the Democrat candidate Gay Debate Thursday night but there are a couple items in news reports about it that I find interesting.
Lesbian singer Melissa Etheridge was one of the questioners and she asked former North Carolina Senator and LOSING Vice Presidential candidate in 2004, John "The Sissy" Edwards about his remark that he is "uncomfortable around gay people." Edwards downplayed the accusation saying the comment, which appears in a book written by Bob Shrum, his former political adviser to his 2004 campaign, was "wrong".
Edwards basically lied, for it is his wife Elizabeth who is the one who said - upon meeting an old classmate who was gay - to the classmate that her husband says he "isn't comfortable around [gay people]."
When questioning Hillary Clinton about her husband's policy of, "don't ask, don't tell," Mr. Etheridge said that those Clinton White House years were a "hopeful time" for gays and lesbians because Bubba had promised to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military. Etheridge said, "our hearts were broken" by Bubba not following through with his promise.
Etheridge asked Hillary, "what [as president] are you going to do to be different than that?"
Hillary MrsSatan replied, "We certainly didn't get as much done as I would have liked, but there was a lot of honest effort." She also called Don't Ask, Don't Tell an "advance" in its time.
This is exactly what El Rushbo has said time and time again; that Democrats seek not to be judged and rated on their accomplishments, but only on their efforts and intentions - especially when their intentions are abject failures.
Well, "DADT" couldn't have been much of an "advance" because we're now seeing the fallout from its implementation within the Democratic party and their presidential candidates. And I wonder if Mr. Etheridge would be so civil and transparently forgiving in her attitude to Republicans as she was towards both Edwards and Hillary? My guess is not.
Bill Richardson, in an amazing display of either common sense or pandering - I'm not sure which - said, "I see gays and lesbians as human beings, I don't like to categorize people."
Richardson - candidly - is a partial step removed from the pandering and posturing of the usual Democrat methodology of dividing everyone up into a sub-culture of people, whether it's black/white, gentile/jew, straight/gay, male/female and of course, the most popular of Democrat categories: rich/poor. I give him credit for him saying he sees people as human beings instead of categorizing them.

"I referred to a friend of mine from English graduate school and how we had been out -- John and I had been out for the evening. I saw this old friend from English graduate school when we were still in law school, and I went over and spoke to him, and I knew that he was gay, and I said, 'You know, I'm engaged. And there's the fellow over there I'm engaged to.' And he said, 'Oh, he's awfully cute. I might snake him if he wasn't with you.' And I told John that. And this is where he used the word 'uncomfortable.' He said that made me feel 'uncomfortable.'"
